Which one is fastest
I have been hearing that the earlier models of the srt-4's are faster than the newer models. magazines have said that the new srt4 are slower than the previous years. how could that be? If someone can prove me wrong please do b/c i got an 05. i need hard facts not just quarter mile times. i got depressed when i heard about this....
An example of what he is refering to is in the newest issue of Motor Trend where they compare the '05 Cobalt SS Supercharged to the '05 SRT-4 and this particular SRT-4 was the slowest SRT-4 they have ever tested and they even mention that fact in the article as quoted here, "But in real life, build variations and green engines (1450 miles old) can conspire to lower performance, as our test car's 6.0-second 0-to-60-mph sprint and 14.4-second 100.8-mph quarter-mile time suggest (our last two SRT4's were about a half-second quicker to both marks)."
Yeah, I've noticed that they, like most, are highly biased and tend to lean everything in one direction. Motor Trend loves foreign cars, if it's a Honda or Toyota then they will make it to be the best by far. If they are talking only about domestics, then it's almost alway Chevy/GM that is the best at everything. The best example is the Viper vs. Vette comparisons. Even after getting crappy numbers with the Viper it still beats the Vette in almost every single test they can possibly do (the Vette usually comes out on top in braking) and they always give the Vette their praise and choose it as the better car regardless of any of their test results. Occasionally they will throw something else a bone once in awhile to seem like they are being fair and unbiased.
you think that mag is biased go read sport copact car some time i'll give you one guess which two cars that they ever talk about and praise.

Yeah I saw that too. Thats because they did not use "brief WOT at low rpm" breaking it in! ( HA HA.....just messin with you Road Runner. ) Seriously, not all engines are the same. Production tolerances come into play, and Dodge has added more equipment. The sunroof, kicker stereo and such all add weight. Ever notice how much quicker your car feels on a quarter tank VS a full tank? I can sure feel the difference. And that is only twelve gallons!

I do and it is Japanese everything. Their favorites are the Skyline, Evo and STi, followed by the RX8 and 350Z and then everything Honda. I was shocked when they did pick the SRT-4 as their car of the year (their readers worlds must have crumbled when it was given to an American car, especially a Dodge).
