Thanks for that info. I was looking at SRT-4 wheels being sold on Ebay to get theme cheaper than new. I would assume the offset of the OEM SXT wheel and the stock SRT wheel is the same? same lugs etc..? If I purchase new 17x7 wheels what offset should I aim for? Thanks for all the assistance.

stock srt wheels will not fit directly on a sxt without modification. they are too large for the suspension and hit in the rear.

Thanks for that, I had no idea. A rear drum-to-disc brake conversion would not be a fix for this?

There was a big debate about that in the SCCA american rallye cuz the breaks they used had to be stock and wore down mostly before the race was even over...In truth the crossdrilled are better cuz they dissapate heat better...heat causes the stock rotors to warp and break up more-so then cross drilled or slotted... The only way they found to get em to last under those conditions were cryogenics.....yeah cryogenically freezing the rotors... I dont know the significance of this but somehow seems to work better. And as much as Id like to agree w/ you all on stock breaks and rotors they dont last longer under those conditions so I dont see how anyone could say they were better...At least you can reuse them after heavy driving and not worry about it as much. Plus breaks with greater surface area and heat holes or slots in em help to Ive noticed these types of break pads at autoparts stores the reason for this is the gases created by the friction of stopping also damage your rotors at least w/ the crossdrilled or slotted it allows the gas to and heat to expel. Dual caliper breaks are better for the aftermark applications as well cuz lets face it, when you slam your breaks or lock em the caliper can get pressed uneven and cause uneven pad wear. Duals lock a lot better and have twice the stopping power.

I was just on the website tire rack dot com. There it states that this tires size does fit the SXT: Optional 17" 205/40-17. They sell many 17" wheels to fit my SXT using that tire size instead of the OEM 185/60-15 that I have now. So all I can say is that I am now uncertain why an OEM SRT-4 wheel cannot fit the SXT stock suspension if this size is offered as a optional size. The OEM SRT wheel is also available from Mopar as an "accessory", although that is the wrong way to go regarding cost of the wheel through the manufacturer. Could someone add in additinal information as to exactly what makes the OEM SRT wheel wrong for a '05 SXT Neon, regarding fitment and clearance. Thanks all

Wow! So much passion for brakes! All well and good but I'm leaving mine alone. However, I don't like the black dust with the stockers and don't know with less than 2000 miles how they'll last, but if anything like my 95 Neon was when new, I won't have to worry about them for long. Then I will upgrade to a better pad. My 95 went only 15,000 on the first set of fronts (w/no racing) and were to the metal. I about crapped. I paid a couple of extra bucks at PepBoys for the Raybestos pads and traded the car in with about 40,000 on it and the fronts were only about half worn. They also didn't dust as bad. The 95's OEM pads sucked. I'm hoping for better with this SRT, but with the dust issue, I may change them early anyway. I am a big fan of Raybestos, hope they make a set for the SRT.
As far as drilled or slotted or drilled and slotted?
I aint even going there.

they're not from mopar. moparsupercenter makes them, they are aftermarket brakes. they are a very nice kit, lightweight and all. a little too much money for my taste for brakes, but knowing me i'll end up with a set when my stage 1 brakes are worn out.

pressurecooker - the srt brakes are good for about 30k on them. you should see the size of the pad that our cars use, it's crazy. i have not seen those pads available for the car, but the ebc green stuff is available and doesn't dust as bad. the hawk's are out too, and dust more than the ebc's but are a better pad.

You are so correct. I went to a dealership and found an SRT-4 on the lot. I had a measuring tape in hand. The SXT rear suspension sits lower than that of an SRT-4, and is just low enough that a OEM 50 series 17" SRT tire will not clear the rear of the SXT wheelwell. I didn't even concern myself with the front suspension since you did not previously mention it. Having gone to a tire store dealing with aftermarket tires, they stated a 215/40-17 will fit the stock SRT rim and will also fit the SXT car. I wasn't sure a 215 would fit but tire rack dot com stated a 205/40-17 would. Worse case, I fit a 215 and it is too wide, and make them remove it and replace it with a 205. My puny OEM 185's are so small in comparison. My car is going for "show" and not the "go". What can a 2.0L be upgraded to anyway. Thanks PSI for all your help!!!!
