what trans does an auto SRT use?!? i would think that the auto would be a terrible drag on the engine with the TC and the added strain of the fluid...

it's a custom built automatic from the same guy that build daryl ***'s. he had to switch over to it from a stick, the car is just too fast for a manual to be useful on the track. not to mention he broke the shifting mechanism on his manual about 50 times....

yes, that's the mopar srt-4. scott mohler drives it and it was built and is run by darrell ***. what a sick srt that is too. i saw him race last season, it was insane. darrell *** was also roaming around and looking at all our srt's that were in the staging lanes (there were about 15 of us there that day). cool guy.

the auto srt, well we don't know exactly how much power he's pushing, he doesn't believe in dynos. but i know this, the tranny was built for 550-600hp and it destroyed itself on the first launch. i would not be surprised to see it break a 10 this season when the tranny issue is fixed, and it will easily do low 11's.

thats tight...the quickest that i have seen was the dummied up red "RT" at the track last year that i mentioned, who ran a high 11...i have also seen some Depressing SRT4s...stage 2s running mid 14s... ive seen a few 9 second neons at the nationals a few eyars ago...it was a black first gen coupe, i think from howell or MP...

but anyway, good luck with those tires! when are you headed to the track?

A contolled clutch release/engagement may help to save the driveline from some abuse but at the expense of clutch life. So it goes in racing. It's a viscous circle. When you get to the level Psi is at with many stock parts, stuff will break. Then you upgrade if you can. But who am I talking to? You guys all know this. My guess is the axles are doomed. I hope I'm wrong though. Maybe She'll get a good learning season out of them. Hey, doesn't Forward Motion make beefed axles for neons?
Also, is that Mopar Neon running a longitudinal engine? If not, what ever happened to the car that was?
Psi, Have you seen or considered one of those active wheely bar setups that retracts after 1st gear? Would you even consider running something like that or would that put you in a whole new class you may not want to be in?

oh i know my axles are gonna go, i already said that. i'm going to get the dss's when they do, i just don't have the money for them right now. i'm hoping to get a little bit out of the axles i have now and later on the season get a set of the upgraded ones. i have a friend that can get them for me at discount, but they'll still run me like $400.

and fortunetly, i don't have much left on the car that's stock to break, so i'm hoping that's not a problem!!!!

the active wheelie bar set up would remove me from the street events completly, and i don't want to do that. i like to run those events. nothing better than hooking up on some dot's and getting nice times, showing what our little neons can do! i'm thinking that when this turbo goes, i'll probably go insane with the big turbo and possibly doing the engine up at the same time. if that happens then i would probably turn it into an all our race car. i don't even have cage in it right now, and i don't want to put one in. i'm thinking i might have to if i can get the 11.8's like many others are on similar set ups to mine, and then i'm going to throw w/i on top. i'll deal with that when the time comes....
