this is done to help with traction. if you got full boost in first gear then you would just spin. the mopar stages keep this feature unless you get s2 or s3 w/toys, then you can get full boost in 1st. unless you're on slicks though it's not really worth it.
Actually, Stage 1 does allow more or full boost in 1st gear, it's one of it's main features. Here it is straight from Dodge: "Enhanced 1st gear boost schedule for a higher performance launch" "
Enhanced first gear boost schedule. The maximum boost in first gear is increased to deliver more torque and power to the road for a higher performance launch."
it's increased, but it's not full boost. with stage 1 you'll see around 10psi in first, where as stock is more like 8 usually.
I checked my boost in 1st gear the other day when I took off a little spirited from behind someone that finally got out of the road (one of those people that practically park it before they turn into some place, then idle in with the brake applied[:@]) and it was at 12 psi. This wasn't at full throttle or anything really close, but it was right at the point of the tires breaking loose just the slightest bit. I figure the 1st gear boost with Stage 1 is only restricted by the traction and the short duration of the gear, 1st is gone in the blink of an eye.
