Default Stage 1 Install

I have a 2005 and the unit comes w/o injectors. Where is the black box located. Can I install myself or should I take to dealer? Any tuning or adjustments required after installation? Install Pitfalls?
Thanks

The most important thing is to make sure it's been flashed (should not be a problem if you bought it new). It's easy to change; just be careful not to break any of the wiring harness clips. The PCM is located behind and below the driver's headlight in the engine compartment. Just remove the airbox (where the air filter is located), and you'll have easy access to it.

Add that the Staged upgrade kits from Mopar come with detailed instructions that are pretty foolproff as long as the installer has mechanical aptitude.

The PCM is located on the drivers side next to the radiator and below and in front of the air box. If you have a CAI it is easily visible, but if you don't you cannot see it without removing the air box.

Do it yourself, you would be wasting money you could get one or two mods with by having the dealer do it.

You may want to mark the 3 plugs that connect to the PCM so that you do not get them mixed up and connect them improperly. Simply use masking tape labeled top, middle and bottom to put on each wiring harness/plug before you disconnect them. Getting the PCM out and in attached to the mounting bracket is a pain in the a**, getting it out is easier than putting it in. Check the bottom intercooler hose clamp, the PCM bracket U's around it, if the bolt/screw part is off to either side it will make installation harder, so loosen it and swivel it down to the bottom out of the way. This will make it much easier to get back in place, just do not forget to move the clamp back into position and retighten it (if you do forget you will notice a big drop in boost and power). Other than this it is quite easy and straight forward.

Enjoy your Stage 1 when you get it and put it in, I know I did and it was better than I expected. And don't forget to spend the money you saved doing it yourself on other mods like MSD wires, OCC, Prothane race motor mount inserts, front strut tower brace, Mopar BOV, etc.
