sure you can drive through standing water. you think everyone out there with a cai does circles around a puddle? unless the puddle is like a foot deep, it's not going to be a problem. i know that it does rain in az (it has to, right?), but i seriosly doubt that there's enough rain to ever cause a problem. maybe seattle or oregon, somewhere like that where it rains 250 days a year. it's harder than people think to hydrolock a motor, just driving through a little puddle isn't going to do it. i have a massive 8" k&n filter on the end of my cai, and it hangs down to about the bottom of the wheel well, just as low or lower than the k&n cai, and i have never had a problem with it and i don't anticipate having one.

YUp he is right the three months out of the year when it rains here it never goes away, they came up with this bright idea to save mony by putting limited sewers on the streets so when it rains it just sits there, it kinda anoying, is there a valve you can put on the intake to stop the possiblities of water coming up? someone told me there is, anyway my hydra lock story... i was going to my friends house in my lil 01 civic and its been raing for three days, i turned north up a side street and half the street was submerged so i drove on the other side while no cars were coming as soon as a car came i moved over crusing slowly then i here this big POP i look back in my rearview mirror and see smoke. so i pulled onto a side street and tried to start my car, nothing! I called my friend for a ride and went back the next day, still nothing so i got it towed to a repair shop AAA approved where they jerked me around for a while then said you need a new engine. i was thrilled at that point. so i called around for prices found this place to do it for at a good price with a warrenty and everything, it took em about two weeks for them to call me TWO WEEKS when they did they said " ah we got a lil bit of a problem here it has a cracked cylender head and we need to get another engin for you, so another week roles buy and they finally finished, the car ran awsome for about two months. THEN i was leaving work to go get gas and as i was leaving my car JERKED really bad and hard at around 3800 rpm everytime i went above it it jerked, scared the **** out of me i take it to a shop right across from work they say its the cam shaft sensor that was shot, great so i get ripped off for that 600 out of my pocket. BTW i had the timing belt replaced on it at the same time. Then two weeks later i die in flight on my way to work call aaa have em tow me to a shop they say maybe the blets on to tight or it jumped off but they wanted to charge me an arm and twolegs to find out, i called up the shop where it was worked on they towed me down there worked on if for three more days fixed it for free, that was nice of em. Then not even a day later after i get my car back i was driving to work on mothersday and my engine light comes on AGAIN!!!!!! i was so pissed i turned around went home stole my moms car for work, on that i note i broke her passenger side mirror off with my hip i mean i just tappped it and it fell off, what a week So the next day i drove my 35 mile trip to the repair shop and said just fix is so the dealer wont know, they did that afternoon i went to the dealership that had one, i been looking for em along time they had one advertised 04 black 27000 mile for like 18k i wanted to go see it, when i geth there it was sold but i spotted my silver on they just took it in, i was talking to guy the that used to own it he got srt10 instead, so i said whats the price gonna be for the sivler one?they said like 16900 it had 20500 miles on it, so i drove it around loved it and sair you give it tom me for 16900 with a 100,000 mile warnety you got a deal , well i ended up gettient it for 15900 with an 65000 mile NEW car warrenty not just power train, everything did the deal got 8500 for my civic and i was on my waywith a smile on my face ever since smartest move ive made yet. right as i was leaving the dealership i see this srt4 and wrx blow by me, the srt4 winning of course that made me even happier with my desiscion. Man this story is easier to tell then to write, well i will catch up with you soon thanks for reading my piece of **** rice burner story all american muscle from now on!!!!

i wasn't aware that it rained like that in arizona. being that i'm in new york, i'm not too familiar with the weather patterns out there. you might want to look into the AEM then since it can be converted to a short ram during your rain season and then a cai at other times.
Unfortunately, AEM - Is a no go for conversion. I would love it if this were possible, but their cold air extension requires that you cut the short ram pipe down for fitment. Currently I am running their short ram and I am very happy with it.
The k & N looks like it can be switched back and forth, but it is a 2.5", not a 3".
I think there is one that can be converted, maybe psi-fi, but I am not sure.

Rain, here, is a bitch, too, in the 'burbs, but at least we get storm drains. Wonder who the genius was that ommitted them out there.
