Default Touch up paint

Is there anybody out there in the auto painting business? Anything better than the touch up paint the dealer sells. I’m impressed how they can, in that little bottle put both the base coat and clear coat. Also that brush to dab I don’t know. Anybody who knows how to keep the cars looking good want to hear from you.

Whats wrong with ya paint? To protect ya clear coat...wax ya car. Sometime you may have to do it at least once to twice a month if you live right near the ocean.

Unfortunately, doing it "right" takes a lot of time and patience. We're talking sanding, painting, wet sanding, wet sanding, clearcoating, wet sanding, wet sanding, buffing. Sometimes add a step, depending on the mark. A 30 second job with touch up paint(which can be made to look better than you think,) becomes a 3 hour chore with various materials when you want it "perfect".

Thanks for input. I will Keep all in mind; Wax Wax Wax, Touch up paint can look better than I think.

If I have the time the determination is it at all possible for the novice to do high quality job. Can the good paint be purchased, do you have to have access to expensive pro tools? Just curious.

You need OEM paint and Clear coat. You need a paint atomizer to spray it. You need different grades of very fine grit paper. You need a perfectly dust-free environment. You need a buffer. You need buffing compounds. Some other stuff, too. It would probably be best left to the experts. After purchasing all of the stuff to do it right, it would be cheaper to have a shop do it, too. With knowledge of how to, I have tried unsuccessfully; what a waste of a long day.

Posthonda thanks for last post. That’s what I wanted to know. After my crash parts were replaced and repainted. Don’t think they even did it right that’s why I ask. Seems like my best bet is to find a good body shop and pay them myself. My insurance sucks!
