RE: How wide can I go???
It is pushing it. Stock rims are only 6" in width, which is an extremely narrow rim. Obviously theres no such thing as a 210 series tire, they jump right up to 215. People HAVE put 215s on there, but if you read the manuals, especially that of BF Goodrich, they suggest no smaller than a 7" rim when running a 215 tire.
Remember 215 is left to right, 30/35/40/45/50/60 etc is the sidewall up and down. I wanted to run a 235 on mine, but my rims aren't wide enough for that to be safe for everyday driving.

225s anything wider your pushing it. Get a 225/40ZR17. 235s dont fit all that well unless the cars lowered.

i think your mixed up... if your car is lowered you will have more trouble putting a bigger tire. i have 235/45zr17 on a 17x7" rim and they work great and there is no rub... im stock suspension and i have about an inch at full crank. plus they look so much better than stockers.

I apologize, its when you upgrade the entire suspension that people can shove wider tires in there. Something about not having the stock towers makes life alot easier for wider tires.
A 235 on a 7" oof....I wanted to do it to mine, but BFG says 8" or wider. So I steered clear and got the 225s
