Nightshades + Mopar 3d tails = HOT!
Yep the title says it all. Blacked out my Mopar 3D tails today, sans reverse lights. OMG does it look KILLER! I'm getting another 3rd brake light overlay, because the lights themselves took an hour and a half to tape off (to make sure it was done right I used 3M 1/4" and 3M 3/4" GREEN tape, and 3M Blue Fineline tape for the edges, because of its bleeding properties). I didn't feel like taping off the third brake light, or bothering to take it out, since I didn't have 6 hours to leave it lying around so it would dry completely before putting it back in.
They have two coats of a Laquer based clear on them, and god only knows how many coats of nightshades, about a half a can. I'll have some day shots tomorrow. But here's a few pix from tonight after I did them, at my work.
I did this, because when picturing it in my mind I thought on a Black SRT it would really look kick ***. And to me it does, though everyone is of course entitiled to their own opinions. Also, to my knowledge I am the only one I've seen with this done. I know people have painted the outlines of their mopar tails to match the car, but I've never seen an SRT-4 with nightshaded Mopar Tails. Especially not in New England. Let me know if you've seen it elsewhere, because otherwise, Im happy to be the first.
PS: Mopar S1 Rear brake kit arrived today....SANS ROTORS!! I ONLY GOT THE DAMNED PADS!! But my STS is in one piece

And thanks for the compliments. Yes I only like them on Black also. They don't look right even painted on other colors to me for some reason. I hate the stockers on black....just too base-model neonish for me.

I was skeptical until I saw the photo's, LilSparkPlug. I thought to myself, "now why would she want to go and do that".
Then I saw the pics. Wow. That may be one of the best rear ends I have seen. (on the SRT-4)
. (couldn't help myself) It takes the already nice look and makes it way better, IMO. I am impressed. Way to have the guts to try it out.

Blacked out tails on Silver look kick ***. How the Mopar ones would look I'm not sure. I think you should paint the outsides of them silver to match the car, and then nightshade them the way I did. Otherwise it'll be way too much black on the *** end. But if ya do it that way....it should look slammin
Thanks again for the compliments guys. It did take some ***** to actually get up the courage to do it, not having seen it done before, but I am SOOOO pleased with the results its amazing. Hee hee

My rear end will be changing within the next couple of weeks again...with the addition of my AVS downdraft spoiler. Its already scuffed and ready for some primer....then Im only going to plug up the rear holes instead of welding them shut so i can switch back and forth at will. Just don't have the money for an entirely new decklid to switch those around LOL.
