T3/T4 Turbo Claiming 400HP?Good or Bad?
Hey guys whats going on?I was looking around on ebay motors today and found an SRT-4 that claims "400+HP".Of course I clicked on the link and read all about it.Now I have heard that if I want good solid performance to go with Mopar.I have also heard that going with Mopar is good for daily drivers and very reliable,BUT I have also heard that I can push easily over 400WHP with just a larger turbo, injectors, exhaust, and few modifications. What do you guys think about this guys setup? In his description he states..."This is a totally different animal than those with the Mopar staged upgrades".How reliable do you guys think his setup is?Hes running an AGP Turbo T3/T4 Upgrade Kit as you can see in the description.I havent heard much on here about anyone running an AGP setup or how they perform, but I did go to their website and the description for the upgrade is very convincing for the amount of money.I figured I would show you guys this and see what kind of feedback I get considering I will be purchasing an SRT-4 myself soon.Heres the link to check it out for yourself....Has anyone else seen this car previously?Good or Bad setup?

the set up looks like it could use some work honestly. the apexi safc is not the best controller on the market, and one of the three dimentional ones would be much better. there is also no mention of a fuel return kit, which could be a problem. overall i would say that it's good for the advertised numbers, but it could be improved upon. that turbo is very large, and lag is going to be present.
in the current state of the car, i wouldn't go so far as to say it's a totally different animal than the mopar upgrades, s3 will be close to it minus the lag. any of the major aftermarket turbos will get you in the 400hp range, so that's not really a big deal. but there are plenty of supporting mods that need to be done to support that power or you will see problems.

PSI CHICK,Thanks alot for the input.I would think alot of people would respond to this thread but unfortunately not.I was aware that the turbo was going to most defanitley have lag,but im surprised that you say the S3 would perform much better but without the lag. Thanks again for the input I really appreciate it!
I didn't respond because Im not all that familiar with the T3/T4. Alls I know is its an INSANELY large turbo capable of incredible power, but for my SRT...it'll see nothing but Mopar, 1. because I'm stubborn, 2. who needs to tune? and 3. I dont want all the associated problems with non-mopar upgrades (not that they're perfect.....)
it's not that s3 would perform better, just that they would probably be similar. i'm basing that on estimated 1/4 mile times, not hp numbers. most big turbos (aftermarket and s3) are running low 12's and high 11's, so the times aren't all that dissimilar. an aftermarket turbo will give you higher hp numbers, but if you can't put the power down what's the point. once you start going in the 450+ range traction is a major issue. even in the 350-400 range (which i'm estimating i'm in, i'm figuring around 360-375 on my set up) there are traction issues, and it only gets worse with more power.

Well PSIChick when you put it that way, yeah attempting to hook up with that much more horsepower would put them in about the same ballpark in the 1/4 mile, with the S3 car probably having a better 60 foot time, but the T3/T4 car having a higher mph in the 1/4.
yes, an aftermarket turbo will have a higher mph, they seem to be trapping 122-124 while s3 cars are doing 118 or so. but since they're both doing the same times, who really cares!!!
once the traction issue is addressed completly on these cars then things are going to change quickly. i'm looking forward to the release of the stand alone's and seeing what comes of those. also waiting to see how many do-it-yourself-even-if-you-don't-know-how tuners blow their cars up with them, but that's another post.....
