I’m asking about the relationship. SRT-4 has high torque at low rpm’s. When our car
Maxis torque it is only putting out 106 HP and after that it goes down. I enjoy that low end pull but how does the power curve end up. I’m asking! Power to weight ratio is
Critical to a cars performance. Our car is I think a .086 or .087 at best. To be considered a super car I think a minimum of .10 is required. This is not hard too meet on a SRT-4. the
Viper is a .136 I’m asking! Don’t kill my thread! I put, please, and explanation of HP &
Torque power bands! I’m Asking I want input!

This is not an easy question to answer without involving formulas, since torque and horsepower are related by the number 5250 in an equation that actually uses torque to determine horsepower. Follow----->Torque and power are linked by the fact that horsepower equals torque (in ft-pounds) times RPM divided by 5250. or HP=tq*rpm/5250.

I think that says it succinctly, but to really understand you need to read a lot of definitions. Do a search on google under "hp vs. torque". Then read away. You will come away slightly confused and bewildered, but with a better understanding.

BTW, it was a little hard to decipher what you were asking. Try grammar next time.

at least ur explaining yourself here...just because when we are at peak tq our rpm is low doesnt mean that its a bad thing...down low torque is what makes cars go fast then you have top end hp to pull you through the rest of the gears...power curve will have torque peaking at like 2500 rpms then dropping off and hp peaking at like 5000 rpms then dropping off

to get a hp/tq curve that doesnt drop off u will have to upgrade the turbo b/c the stock turbo cant hold tons of boost at redline (ie: most cars spike to say 19 psi then fall to 16 at redline...hence curve drops at redline)

as for it have a power/weight ratio to be a super car....srt-4 isnt a super car so its not gonna have a ratio like the viper does...thats it...btw "to be a supercar a minimum of .1 is required"...says who?

A racer/tuner I know states this about HP and torque. "Horsepower is an calculation based on torque". A formula if you will. I don't know if that is correct, but it is not the first time I have heard that. I get confused too. Obviously, HP and torque will change as the engine gets into the "power band".

All I can say is when you pull out of somewhere, and the car pins you back into the seat, that is torque you feel. "Torque is the ability to twist".

Jeez, now I'm really confused. Any enginers on the forum that could shed light on this??????????

not an engineer but it is definately torque that makes the car pull so hard and throws u back like you said

like i said to pull u thru the rest of the gears...our cars hit peak torque at like 2500 rpms...then fall off....as tq is falling off HP is growing...HP helps out on top/tq helps out down low

you dont see our cars making 270whp at 2200 rpms then 300tq at 5000 rpms

Pony Killer, the reason your previous threads were deleted was because they made absolutely no sense. If theres 5 replies to a thread and each one is a different version of "wtf??!?!?" then its obvious that no one has any clue what your saying. Even this thread is a bit tough to decipher, but it makes more sense. If your going to create a thread, make sure that it makes sense and has punctuation before posting.....otherwise the "wtf??!!" responses and deleted threads will continue.

think about it this way....tourqe is what makes the car move, hp is what keeps it moving.
