Black 4; What fluid did you decide on? Just curious.
Post H. I think he is also trying to say he wants to put his Neon trans behind the PT engine, or put the 2.4 transversly and annexed to the 2.0 trans and possibly in his Neon. Somewhere in there is a question about SRT-4 trannies too. It also occured to me that we may confusing him by saying the SRT-4 trans is a truck trans as well. Some people may not realize a manual gearbox could be either longitudinal or transverse. Maybe we could help him also by telling him what he'd have to do to a N/A 2.4 to make it run anything like our 2.4's. What are the N/A 2.4's hp wise? Like 150? It's gonna be some work to get another 100 hp and if done the old fashioned way with big cams it will be peaky and not have the flat torque curve ours have.

i dont own a srt4 but i thought how would no more about a srt4 but the srt4 driver himself. i own the water down verson of a neon the sxt its quick to be honest if i had a cam that did good in the upper rpm range like 4500 and a new clutch i would race turbos all day. no offense but i like racing cars faster than mines. [b]but to the question whats the difference between the srt4 manual trans and the srt4 manual trans. im thinking about doing a motor swap do all trans bolt up to any motor allowed like i got a 2.0 sohc 5 speed going to the 2.4 pt cruiser will i need a new trans

remember children....dont do drugs.

The SRT4 uses a New Venture Gear T850. The SXT uses a T350. The PT cruiser turbo uses a Getrag gearbox. The T850 is a better choice, and the T350 would not last a week in an SRT4.

If you put an SRT-4 motor in, you will need the tranny too.

okay i just wanted to apologize for the errors made in my post, some people make mistakes and from the replies that was a big one. i want to do a motor swap, and i want to no the difference between transmissions. for those who kind of understood me thanks for the reply. i want to run turbo, and i no its the way to go but i just want an all motor car. i have a 2005 sxt, 5 speed. wanted to know if it can bolt directly to a 2.4 motor with no problems, and will i need the wiring harness and the pcm, ecu. if i can find a srt-4 trans i will get it.

Okay, The PCM will not have to be changed because the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) is SOLELY for engine management purposes. What you are confusing this module swap with is the TCM (Transmission Control Module). Not to worry, The Manual transmissions, do not require a TCM at all. TCM's are only equipped on automatic transmissions.

Now, if the SXT and SRT transmissions are interchangeable is even a question to me.

BTW, no offense, but why would you want to drop more money into an SXT than the total cost of an SRT just to make it "almost as fast"?
I bought the SRT because i was sick and tired of costly modding to make my cars fast. I bought is so i can "Fly Without Wings" without even touching it. let me tell you...you must drive one to understand it and u will see what u are doing wrong, but then again, whatever floats your boat man, its your car.
