Just to get this straight...s1 2003 should make the same power as s1 2004. But then why are the stage kits different for 03 than 04-05 or am i just wrong?

Hey guys, thanks alot for all of the input.Posthondaremoval,I have driven VR6 GTI'S,1.8T'S,S2000,WRX STI,Etc.A couple of my friends have SRT's and I have driven theres also(I love the car ).Anyhow, will the LSD really help me off the line? And PSI CHICK,how would you think 03's ran faster if 04's have more HP(im not trying to start an argument, just curious on your opinion).Im not planning on dragging the car everyday, but its not going to be stock if you know what I mean - .Thanks again guys for your help, talk to you soon!
Cool, Cool. I just hate to see guys jump straight out of their first '84 tercel into cars like these. Glad to hear you have a little experience.

As far as the lsd on '04's and whether or not it's worth it, I would say that it depends on how you drive, and whether you are into carving corners, or just straight line performance. I have driven both '03's and '04's and I have to say that I feel the difference is significant when it comes to carving. Just take an 03 in a hard turn and nail the gas coming out of it. You will see the benefit of the lsd as the front inside tire starts spinning away. In a straight line, the difference is there, too, but it isn't as significant, and as PSIChick said, it can be overcome by good driving technique.

I would personally go for a late in the run (after april) 2004 model. After then, You are assured that you have the upgraded '04 axles(they beefed them up mid year) and lsd.

actually every year has different stage kits. the 03's come with injectors, which the 04 and 05's have already. for 05 they discontinued use of the battery temperature sensor, so different programing is needed to compensate for that. the power band is exctly the same for all three stage years.

Here is the thing. Every car is different. Some 2003's are better than others, and same for any other year. Or for that matter apply the same to any car out there.

That being said, as Psichick mentioned, there does seem to be a concensus that there were more factory freaks in '03. Maybe since it was new, they paid more attention when they put the car together.

There is a difference because in 2004 they started putting the higher flow injectors that come with stage 1 on the car stock. The '04 and '05 S1 kit comes without injectors because they are already on the car. Note, that the '05 is a different kit than '04 due to slight changes in the ecu. All are unique to their model year.

Only thing I always feel like complaining about is the fact that it costs $329.00, whether you get the injectors, or not. Not fair. We pay for the injectors as part of the price increase over the original $19,995 for 04 and 05.

American_Muscle, You must feel important - you got 2 answers to the same question, lol. I am glad Psichick and I agree.

Actually, she typed faster than me and got hers in while I was typing mine. I always think crossing posts is funny.

so wait...the 04 and 05 s1 kit is just the ecu? And how much do they cost to get "reflashed" at flight systems?

Posthondaremoval, thanks alot for the input.I know that if I bought an 03' I could most likely get used to the driving(cornering).I completely understand what your saying now also about the LSD,it only makes sense that the 04's would hook up better out of corners and such because its puting more power to the ground.Im not so big on rippin' around corners or anything but at the same time I wouldnt want my car slipping out of corners like crazy, but then again you could easily get used to driving with it.So I guess it would be nice to get a later model 04' because of the LSD,Upgraded Axels,Bigger Injectors, and more HP(Sort of more HP...?Maybe, oh well). That stinks that Mopar wont take $ off of the kit if it doesnt include injectors though but at least your still getting the same power. Thanks for everything guys your great!!
