Did you guys read the article at all?? Come on Road Runner?? the writer even mentioned that everyone would be pissy that they picked the Acura over some of the others... but it's not all about ***** to the wall power... the acura is a better car all in all when compared to our little Dodge... don't get me wrong, I love my SRT... but it's a monster when compared to other tamer cars. So before we get our panties in an uproar, think about it... big ***** to the wall power isn't everything in the real world.
I never got to finish the article as it was someone elses magazine, I got 3/5 the way through it. They did indeed have lots of good things to say about the SRT-4, especially when it came to performance, but the article was obviously supose to be based on performance, it wasn't called the "Fastest $25,000 and Under Daily Drivers" in which your point would be quite valid. They also never mentioned that it would be based on which was best all around as a general comparison, it was a performance comparison which plainly put compares one cars performance against another, plain and simple. Hell, even Sport Compact Car magazine gets this simple and basic type of comparison right. It seems that everyone else here has a firm grasp on the concept of a performance comparison and agree as to what it should include and be based on, performance.

It's overtly obvious as to the reason behind their inclusion of their BS points rating chart that includes things that are completely meaningless in a performance comparison, to unjustly award any car they so chose by padding the points on stuff that has no effect on the cars performance. They can also use this same ratings chart in other non-performance oriented comparisons to award cars that don't actually win a specific comparison, such as having a reliability comparison and the cars they like best (or are paid to prefer) are not very reliable but they are roomier and a little more powerful, so they can then award their "favorite car" the #1 spot since it's greater leg room, head room, fitment and better performance gives it enough extra points over the most reliable car to "justify" (for their own peace of mind) giving the most unreliable car their pick for being the best and alleged most reliable car in the group. This allows them the ability to award any car the top spot in any possible comparison which is completely biased BS.[sm=bustedsign.gif][sm=exactly.gif]

Road Runner,

I see your point. Though, I still don't 100% agree with it

There is however one key thing to note about any car review (Motortrend, C&D, etc.). It's a likely bet that those people don't own any one of these cars (SS, SRT, WRX, etc.) - so maybe it's not their view that is as biased as it is our view (since we do own SRT's). Does that make sense? We went out and put our hard earned money down for our cars, so we better like them... a magazine writer doesn't have that financial attachment to a car when testing... and in the long run, does their opinion matter anyway? people are going to like what they want and hate what they want

random and unrelated!
2coff spelled "performance" 2 different ways, both of which were wrong.

But, if you are pointing spelling fingers, make sure yours is correct. Ridolin - haha.

you misunderstood my point. financial attachment because of the car (you have an attachment to your SRT, as do I, just as I have one to my Civic, or any car I am buying). I am suggesting that the writer does not have that emotional connection/financial connection to a specific car they are testing. Go to a car lot, test drive a Pontiac G6 - you don't have any connection to that car, so your opinions on the car are not based on what's coming out of your wallet. Does that make sense?

I remember an article a few months back. Can't remember if it was in MT, R&T or C&D but it had like 7 "economy" sports cars including the SRT-4. I believe they gave the honors to the TRD celica, which was priced at 27K. I have heard nothing but bad things about this generation of celica power and reliability wise, plus this was the most expensive car in the comparison. This was the article that finally made me understand that none of these magazines are reliable enough to base a purchase on.

I do have to give the Elise credit. I freaking love the look of that car and I would jump at the chance to drive one.
