SRT4 VS STI

That's not how NASCAR is at all. You've probably never even seen 10 minutes of a race. If you knew how hard it was to drive along side of 42 other cars at 180 MPH for 3-4 hours, then you wouldn't think like that.

NASCAR and IRL start from rolls, but that racing concerns itself more with who runs out of gas first (lame) - ha-ha.

) All of the strategy the announcers kept talking about, when to pit, when to pass, 2 tires or 4 tires was pretty interesting. But after all of that roundy-round, it came down to two car coming out of a corner side by side and drag racing to the finish line.

I watched an entire race once with my dad (he's into NASCAR, I'm into NHRA

racing from a roll isnt my idea of racing its just what all the dumb f*@$ around here do b/c they feel its fair b/c they cant launch under normal circumstances...wether it be street lights or drop of a hat. And the idea of taking it to a drag strip is just lame cuz the closest one is like an hour away. And the other drag strip is 1/8 mile that really yields no result and just isnt quite as good of a rush to a lot of people. The only time any of us really get to see a 1/4 mile dragstrip is to go to IRP during the shows and bracket race for class titles. But that is a once a year ordeal...If I knew what it would take to open a drag strip I would try to buy land to do so. Until then I guess you will always see dumb ricers w/ speeding tickets.
You can't always judge it by car vs. car. Theres other factors that need to be added in to determine exactly how the race will go, which sometimes are impossible to figure out until race day.
Who can launch better?
Who shifts at proper intervals to maintain optimum power and torque?
Whats the road conditions?
Theres PLENTY of things to factor in. The main one being, his car could have 300 more horsepower than yours (figuratively speaking) but if he can't drive it at all, that 300hp goes down the drain and you win the race.
Classic Example, SRTGurl's SRT-4 TOASTED a Viper in the 1/4 at Epping Dragway in New Hampshire. The video is on the web somewhere. Had the viper owner been able to properly handle and drive his car, he may have taken her.
You just never know.
And another thing. If he wants to race, do it the right way. Take it to your local track pay the small fee for a few runs and get it done right. Don't race on the street and endanger the rest of the world just to see who's "faster".

Yeah we could all use a few more good places to race that's for sure. I love being back in Michigan for every reason besides the racing. Imagine the Motor Capitol State in need of more tracks but it's true. the nearest one to me is Martin and that is a good 45 mins on the highway. not bad in a little Neon but try that in your 4.10 geared firebreathing 440 big block. You'll do it oh,... about once.
I lived in Vegas for about 15 years and that is the one thing that I miss. I was only 7 miles from the dragstrip and now the motorsports park. 2 oval tracks, 2 road courses, a dragstrip, a serious gocart track, Motocross, Monster trucks, autocrossing whatever, you name it, it was happening right there. The Casinos and desert you can keep. Street racing happens when there is really no other place to race and unfortunately that is way too often the case. I liked having a track so close (in Vegas) and I used it all the time. Not so here.

not to bash you MidnightBlue... but NASCAR will always be gay to me... sorry, nothing personal... I see another "Long Live Earhardt" sticker I might puke
again, nothing personal... I just hate it... (and yes, I have watched more than 10 minutes of racing)
Now that I'm a Subie Noob, I'll tell you this. If the guy can drive GOOD, he will probably take you to 60mph or so from a dead stop. Roll on races are for people who cant drive, dont get sucked into one.
FYI.....My 2005 Legacy GT (250hp version of the STI motor), puts down 1.85 60 foot times STOCK. My SRT4 with stage 1 and a CAI plus a boost controller put 2.0 second 60' times consistently. The trick to launching a Subie is a delicate balance of clutch slippage and RPM.
Good luck, if you launch decent, it will be a good race.

You lie....you launch WAY BETTER THAN THAT!
A 1.85sec 60' time? My motorcycle can't beat that!
