Sorry but the redline doen't mean a damn thing in fact the lower the power band the better. Plus this is a long stroke moter it's piston speed is much faster at low RPM then most other engines.

if they went to 7k for the rev's... you'd probably be picking up pieces of a motor before too long a little thing called knock or pre-ignition... not to mention heat... and it's well beyond the engines max. power range... no need to go that high on rev's.

Redline is 6000 on the tach, but is listed at 6200 and is actually a little higher than 6250... I have my MSD rev limit set at 6250 and it hits before the stock fuel cut rev limiter does. Stage 2/3 will bump the rev limit to 6500.

It's not just the stroke (almost 4") but also the crappy rod to stroke ratio.

If I may chime in........ not only that but the peak torque is at like 2000 rpm and it stays very near the torque peak till over 5000 I believe. What other 4 cylinder pulls like that? You can short shift and still go very quickly. It's cool. Like the powerband of a big block. At 80 on the freeway, I can stand on it and go almost as quickly in 5th as I would downshifting to 4th or 3rd. It aint like no other 4 cylinder I have ever owned.

The stock rev limiter is an ignition cut. I believe.
