I'm thinking of buying one, but not sure if it would last. I don't drive too hard and I would be using it as a daily commuter car. What are some mechanical issues (if any) that I should be aware of?Thank you for your input.

 

Just a few TSBs here and there, no major recalls. Some parts you may consider adding just to make the car run better.

TSBs:
4th Spark Plug Wire
Steering Column
TPS Wire

Those are the two major ones

Things you may want to add when purchased:
Oil Catch can to keep excess out of the intercooler.
NEW upgraded plugs and wires
Short Throw Shifter....yeah not necessary, but much better


And yes they are very reliable cars, but mines cursed, swear to god its evil.

 

15k daily driver with occasional track days, no problems.. had a motor mount bolt back out and snap at around 5k, but that was a pretty easy fix for the dealer. not a single problem since. i'm pretty much the opposite of lil'.

 

My car is the rare one out of the bunch. When I sold it to myself this was probably the 10th dealership I called that was willing to trade so I could have my SRT. Unfortunately he was the fresh one.

Interestingly enough on my VIP report my car was built March 25, 2004 and it says Hour: 10. YUP THE 10th HOUR! Just my luck [:'(] I still love him though, even though the dealer made him worse

 

Make sure the transmission is easy to shift.

 

GEt some booge bushings and that will make the shifing easier.
I have a '03 built in June and no problems as of yet (excuse me while I knock on wood)
I do have a hole that is worn thru the drivers seat near the bolster after 19K miles or so that is being replced under the warranty (3/36)
