srt-4 vs. NON-STI wrx
I know there was a post a while ago about this but please don't flame me. The post was about the 04 srt4 vs the 05 wrx but the discussion slowly drifted away from the regular wrx and to the sti. I want to know how the srt-4 stacks up against the NON STI wrx performance wise. A guy at my school has a white wrx (not sure what year) and i heard today that he wanted to race me. I am stock and as far as i know he is stock. I can drive pretty good so what are the odds that i'll come out on top? Please don't let this drift back into an sti vs srt4 discussion. only srt4 vs wrx. Thanks
youll take him, not very fast at all. even with mods the reg wrx is not very fast, im the one with the sti and ran an 04 wrx with intake, exhaust, bov, turbo xs programer and pulled him hard. im running stock psi, aem cai, exhaust and bov.
Only one way to find out.[sm=gears.gif]
Seriously - you oughtta' rip him good if you run to anything over 60 mph. If you really want to laugh, roll off at 40-45 in 2nd or anywhere in third. He'll dissapear in the rear view faast.

Why does everyone assume the AWD is going to take you off the line? Now that I have one I can say they are as difficult or more to launch than an SRT4.
Rev it too much and the clutch will slip. Don't rev enough, it bogs right down. I watched an 03 SRT4 demolish a WRX from a stop light....the Dodge was spinning all the way thru first and most of second. My G-timer shows almost identical 60 foot times between the two cars. If I launch the Subie right, it will do a 1.8 sec 60' time.....thats a trick. It will consistantly do a 2.0 60' time. That is what my Stage 1 SRT would do.
If U can drive half decent, you have nothing to worry about....the Dodge rules. The Subies don't have the horsepower to run the back half like the Dodge can.
My best time in the Dodge; 13.6 @ 103.4, Stage 1 with a CAI.
My best time in the Subie : 13.88 @ 100.6, stock with 15 psi of boost.
Remember, these are with my g-timer on the same road, same spot, averageing two runs in both directions.
Too much talk about a car an SRT owner should not even consider in the same class. If the STI guys read this forum, they must think were scared to death of them.
I had to edit this, the exception would be on a wet road.....AWD would def win.

I have driven the rex extensively, and own an srt-4 that I have had in many configurations. Same 60 foot times, here, too.
BTW - that is a very good time for a std. subie rex. Aren't rex's 7 psi stock? Stock turbo at 15 psi should net about what you ran, so I am assuming there is some boost manipulation going on.
To expand - everyone note, that with double the stock boost a rex still runs .28 sec and 2.8mph slower than a srt-4 with 1 extra lonely lb. of boost.
You got the legacy GT, right? How you liking it? Nice cars.
