Default QUESTIONS ABOUT PSI/TUBRO

I'll have to admit i'm in the dark nearly about everything that has anything to do w/a turbo, yes i have one in my gs-t but havnt had the intrest to really get down into things till now, i am looking at purchasing an srt-4 and before i do i'd like to know and i'd someone to shed light on turbo's, upgrades, things of that nature. First off....when purchasing a product to upgrade a turbo, how will you know if you can run a higher psi or a lower psi? For example a wga (waste gate actuator kit) it is adjustable...totally in the dark on what this does and what you'd adjust it to or how'd u even do it. Another is dump kits, hell for all i know it could be the same thing. Maybe i'm just being a flat out retard about the whole thing but i guess i have to learn somewhere. Please shed light and open up my dumb eyes.

THanks TL

just read on this site, for they explane every on the upgrage stage 1 to 3. to make a short story. normaly you want all the pressure the turbo can give you. so you can trick the waste gate to open at higher psi.

but on the srt-4 the computer wont let you do that.

you need stage 1, you then have a pcm that let you increase pressure and other stuff. but you just lost your waranty...

if you want more power you will need more fuel and all...so it will be injector and some other gismo

they are not that costly on an srt-4...for me i will not do it for now, i want to keep my waranty.

all a turbo timer does is cool down the turbo after you drive. how do you think that helps with anything? and what on earth are you calling a "re-mapping"?

the questions that you're asking are really too long and complex to be answered in one post. the best thing i can suggest is to go to srtforums.com and search and read. the answer to just about any question you have can be found there if you just look for it. also try www.howstuffworks.com for some basics. if you have specific questions about parts or how something works then please ask, but asking something so general is basically impossible to answer in one post.

That link for how stuff works will pretty much cover all your questions, just click on the auto stuff tab and then turbochargers and you will have a few selections depending on how or what you want to know about them. It's really quite easy to understand, once you check out that site you'll be able to know how to modify them, that site also has a little on certain modifications to them as well.

sorry PSI, i have to correct you on this one. Turbo timer ALSO helps the life of the Turbo, the MAIN reason why ppl get timers!

Also, why upgrade? Upgrading a turbo will cost you more than you think. I am sure Tuning is going to be involved too, but dont quote me on it.

Ya a turbo timer does help the life but that other guy was acting like its a performance part. I think he confused it with a Boost Controller.
