Default Exhaust Question

Got my SRT-4 Today, way to excited to put into words. Looking at getting an exhaust, I was looking at Magnaflow. I'v noticed most downpipes, exhausts are 3'. The Magnaflow I believe is 2 1/2'. What will that effect performance wise it not being 3', if it effects anything. What dp would u get w/that if I did get the Magnaflow? The exhaust sounds better then i'v heard for an srt-4 no popping, very smooth ect. If not Magnaflow what would you suggest?

Thanks for your input.

the maxxfab 3" turbo back is a very nice system. the perrin is also really nice, just kinda pricy.

if you're going to be making good power (300+) then a 3" turbo back would be a good idea. if you're not planning on modding like that, then the 2.5" is plenty.

If you don't like the loud exhausts or the pops and crackles all you need is to add a muffler. Unless you plan on making far more power than stock (above Stage 3), then you will need a 3" exhaust. Most, if not all of the 3" exhausts are mufflerless and will be very loud and have tons of the popping you don't like, so you would need to add a muffler to it to eliminate it. If you plan on anything less the 2 1/2" exhausts are perfectly fine, you just need to make sure they have a muffler to get rid of the popping.

RR, the "popping" is the SRT-4 "music" for those of us too cheap to buy the upgrade stereo!!!![sm=deal.gif]

Definately, you know that I love the sounds of my exhaust and the more pops and crackles it gives, the more I like it. I still need to get the Maxfabb to Mopar Performance exhaust as well as replacing the resonator with a straight pipe, so that I can get even more and even louder pops and general roaring. I have a 100% Alpine stereo like I've always wanted, but I almost always wind up leaving it off just so I can hear the exhaust, BOV and turbo.

I'm curious.....why is it that a 3 inch exhaust is better, but if you go with a stage 3 upgrade, you are supposed to use their 2.5 inch mopar system?

s3 was designed to be used in conjunction with their 2.5" exhaust and the cat delete pipe. it will function perfectly with those pieces installed, however many people have opted to use a full 3" system.
