my future srt-4
this is what i want to do to an srt-4 if i got one as my first car! if you have any suggestions or comments i would very much appreciate them! okay - first of all, i would want an '04 or '05 (in black!) because they have the limited slip - i would then put on the stage 1 upgrade, (i would want to put on stage 2 and possibly 3, but im not sure if they are street legal) the mopar CAI, the mopar/borla exhaust, the short-throw shifter, and the mopar BOV.appearance wise, i woould get the 3-D taillights, and a few cosmetic things like removing the spoiler, new wheels, clear third brake light, and i would replace the lights on the side on the front of the car with clear ones. i would also like the mopar stage 3 coilover kit to lower it and improve the handling, but do you need to buy a camber for that to work? i thought i heard that somewhere - and the mopar anti-roll bars and tower struts for front and rear - do you suggest buying the mopar performance springs or any other mopar parts? (i'd prefer mopar over other makers if they make the part) and finally some new brakes - does mopar have a brake upgrade kit? and do you think i would need the mopar clutch to handle the increase in horsepower if i only had the stage 1?

Sounds like you've been reading the forums, and have your ideas pretty sorted out already. Seriously think about the following suggestion:
Don't get an SRT-4 as your first car. I'm not bashing - just advising. Start with something a little tamer, and learn how to drive. Trust me. Ask anyone here the same question and you'll get the same answer. The car is NOT for novices. I would have wrapped it around a tree if I started with it 16 years ago when I was your age.
Modded - first car - in the 12's - BAD idea. Try a civic or something else that HANDLES well w/o too much power, and learn how to keep it at speed in turns. Then move up. You will be much better off, and will be able to extract the power from somethng like an SRT-4 much more efficiently, when you are ready for it.
Think about it - you don't run before you walk, don't race before you get used to driving.
Good advice:
If this car were available when I were 16, I wouldn't be here today. I KNOW kids hate being told that they aren't able to handle something like this, because at that age, you actually think you are indestructible. I would have been pissed as hell if someone told me that I couldn't handle a car like this at that age. But the truth is the truth. For a 16 year old, the sound of the turbo is addicting, and the rush of the power is such that you want to have your foot into it all the time.
We were all 16 once, and I know how badly you want a car like this, but like he said, get something that is a little less powerful, and then, as you are getting to be a better driver, slowly start modding it. Anyone can drive a fast car, but it's knowing when you can't drive it fast is what makes the difference between experience and being a novice. If you think we are kidding here, just go on to Ebay and look at the SRT-4's that are there with a salvage title. Someone is wrecking these things in a big way.
Those were good safe choices on your mod list, though.

well they are right, but you only live once, sounds like you got alot of money to blow on a car with all those upgrades, i wouldnt say you shouldnt get this as your first car or anything, but you may think of a lil older wrx, plenty of speed starting out, with great handling, and i wouldnt waste your money on upgrades for it, but do your thing kid, i know if i had the chance to get one when i was sixteen i would have, but i got pulled over for racing, speeding like 3 times and i got into a minor accident all when i was sixteen with a pontiac sunfire, so keep that in mind now im like 4 years clean without any tickets, i still go over the speedlimit but i am more aware of what to look for then i was then, i hate saying what these guys say and wait, but its up to you and your parents, but think about a wrx they are cheep and reliable and quick. Sorry i had to say that stuff. gl, and as posthonda said get a car first then we will talk, cuz it soundls like your gonna dump about 3k+ of mods in, you can get an evo used for the same price and those are beasts!
well im only 18 i have been driving since i was 16 and i will say i have been racing since before i was legally abble to drive so i learned alot and i drive very well. i am a true racer got it running through my veins i rmemeber when i was lookin at this car before it was actually made and had it all planned out i was goin to get it when i went to college something fast and somewhat reliable if takin care of like everyother performance vehicle. well it all worked out i have had my 04 srt-4 for about 3 months im stage 2 with toys mopar cai stage 2 coliovers titanium front and rear strut bars, short throw shifter, msd coil pack, greddy type s bov, borla exhaust, 85 shot nitrious (dry) this may seem like alot of power to some but in my eyes its nothin i can hamdle the power but i have alot of responsibility and discipline just b/c hes a kid and i am still doesnt mean u cant handle it if u can afford nice tihngs then enjoy them dont let other ppl slow u down b/c they couldnt handle it back then so yea i say do it i did and im lovin it im not tryin to bash on any one im just sayin. this site has givin me alot of knowledge about my car and i thank all of u older guys/gurls out there that found out what worked the best for all us coming up behind yall oh and stage 3 should be hear begiinning of november cant wait thanx yall . lol, wow that waws just me before, i was 16 driving a truck. then went into a civic with a b18swap. Race and everything. Even though hondas have no power at all, it doesnt matter, once that little rush starts, it hard to maintain it! TRUST ME! 3 accidents, 4 tickets, and one DUI! wow insurance is a pain in the butt for me now! still ahve my honda, and dec is when im getting my srt4! looking for black or white. Cant find any orange blasts around here but honestly! i wanted to go boost, but with the way i drove when i was a kid/teen man glad i didnt. Im noe clean about 3 1/2 yrs so im hoping the insurance goes down. anyway, as everyone said its up to you, and how you drive. Make good decisions when you drive, j b/c someone pulls up to you and revs, DONT race them! there could be a cop sitting on the next block, trudt me i know! happened 2 times. Remeber when you race think of pedestrians and other drivers, go to the track and do it! its more legit! as said with power comes responsibilities! common sense man!
still 16...still have an srt-4...still alive (and no accidents or tickets). Been drivin it for almost a year now. But they're right to advise you to get something a little tamer, these things are definetely fast and addicting. and yeah how the hell do you have the 20-25 grand that it sounds like you plan on dropping into this thing? domesticrice: you do realize that considering your reputation with a much slower car (the b18 N/A) you'll probably kill yourself with an SRT-4???

yeah man, just drive the car for a while before you do anything to it. get familiar with the car first. remember know your limits and also know the cars limits. dont go and try to race and top out the car when you first get it. and also you seem to have planned out a good products list for the car.
A great starter car would be a first gen '98-'99 Neon R/T, they have good power and great handling. They also have tons of mods and parts to make it much faster and even better handling. Plus the insurance would be far less expensive than the SRT-4's is at your age, which could be as high as the car payments.
