The only reason that I want the dealership to install it is to keep them from trying to blame any problems on it or the fact that they didn't put it on. I know that they cannot void the warranty without being able to prove it, but I would prefer to avoid the hassel. Now for the bad part, no one at this dealership has ever touched/installed a BOV on an SRT-4 before. So I can either do it myself and know that it's done right, or let them do it and pray that they get it done right.[sm=smiley24.gif]

Yeah, I'm gonna ask the service manager if he has a mechanic that is familiar with SRT-4s/BOVs...if not, I'll go to another dealer...we've got 5 here in San Antonio. SOMEBODY'S gotta know what there're doing!!![sm=smiley24.gif]

I know you two are old hats and I'm a greenie, but I thought I'd throw my hat in this discussion. I just put mine on yesterday- I've never dealt with a turbo motor before, so I have no bov experience, but I have to say it was a pretty easy install. As far as the warranty, I spoke with my service manager (I'm blessed with what seems to be a really good service dept. in Puyallup, WA) and he says who installs it is not an issue- the issue is whether it gets done properly. According to him, even if they put it on wrong and you accept the car, and then something breaks due to the part, they technically aren't liable (I doubt that any dealer would actually exercise that right in that situation- it's just a hypothetical "techinically" situation). He did recommend that I let them put the stage 2 on, simply because mopar keeps tweaking the programming, and if you install it yourself you may not have the latest technical order for a flash, or whatever. Anyway, that's his take on it.
My MAIN reason for being here, however, is that I've been looking for projector headlights with no success whatsoever, and I saw that Rez references IP2 headlights- what are they and where can they be gotten?

There was one case last spring where a young guy had the BOV dealer installed. They disconnected the oil line to the turbo to do the install. They did not reconnect properly, it leaked oil. He brought it in, they retightened it. A week later, the car acutally caught on fire while he was driving it. Dealer actually blamed his driving. Said he was driving it too hard, caused it to overheat the turbo, melting the coolant res, the melting plastic of which melted a power steering hose, his caused the fire.

Took like 10 pages of grief at the forums, but in the end, Mopar themselves made the dealer do the right thing. If you want to read the whole thing, search for "car and fire" titles only, over at the srtforums.

I would not buy the "tweaking the programming" statement. I don't think DCX lets dealers flash peformance programming onto PCMs. I could be wrong on that though.

I've been having to rephrase this... It's IP2 headlight bulbs, not housings...

Another good reason to carry a fire extinguisher in the trunk...[sm=smiley4.gif]

Darn- I thought I might have a lead there- oh well...

As for the "tweaking the programming" statement, I may have my verbiage wrong, but it was something to that effect. He just brought up the point that if you do it yourself you may not have the latest service bulletin regarding it (of course I suppose you could just ask). Anyway, I make it sound like he was grubbing for money, which really wasn't the case. He seems pretty knowledgeable about the car- even knew what I was talking about when I asked him to activate the alarm and did it w/ no hassle (they said they couldn't do the daytime running lights w/o changing the country of origin to Canada, though- anyone have any experience w/ that?).
