We started on the new Project car today!
That's right! We started on the new Dodge-SRT4.com project car today. Thanks to Cory at Modern Performance for getting us the parts so damn quick! Saturday delievery too! Well, here's a quick rundown of the car.
The car was purchased on March 19th by Turbodog (my business partner) to use as a project car for the website. It's a 2004 E-Blue w/ sunroof and Viper seats. He was originally going to get a Silver, but didn't feel like waiting and got one that was already delivered. I personally think the Blue was a better choice!
We called up Cory on Thursday to order some parts and he was real cool about it. He even picked up the shipping for us! Hell of a guy if you ask me... The parts arrived yesterday and they all went in today with the exception of the Rex Inserts and the clear corners (they were on back order). Here's what I installed this morning.
Mopar BOV
Mopar STS
Booger Bushings
IP2 Headlights
SilverStar Clear Turn Signal Bulbs
MSD 8.5 Super Conductor Plug Wires
MPx Shift **** (I love this thing...)
The whole install took be less than 2 hours from the start to finish. The Rex Inserts will be going in this week, and the clear corners are going in whenever they get here. The next Major mod going in the car will be Stage 2 with toys. I have some special plans for this car, as well as some things that I have engineered myself. We'll be doing another photo shoot with the chick in my sig pic using both cars soon. Gotta have eye candy for the website!!!
Thanks guys! And don't forget to check out the site, www.dodge-srt4.com .

I'll be interested in seeing the Stage 2 install, because I plan on getting it with the toys as soon as it becomes available. I've read about many issues with the MP BOV(mainly a drop in boost pressure due to leaking) and all of the CAI kits(why did MP/POV back out of making one?), what is your take on these problems? I'm going to skip the MP BOV install nightmare and let the dealership do it.[sm=smiley17.gif]
Actually Roadrunner, it's not that hard of an install. The trick is to have long arms and to get a 10MM gear wrench for that hard to reach bolt. It took me about 20 minutes to out the plate in and get everything tight. I forgot to put some sealant on the gasket, but that will be done soon. I've installed so many of these, I'm an "old pro" at it. If you do it yourself, reach around the exhaut manifold from the passenger side and come up on the bolt. Have a buddy put his finger on top of the gear wrench to make sure it doesn't slip. It's real easy after that. Oh, and make sure you put that hard to reach bolt in first, it make life A LOT easier.
Or do the Forge
Thinner flange and o-rings means easier install with no leaks
But the third bolt first thing is the real deal.
I was able to finger the bolt for most of it's travel. Made the final tightening much shorter. It was not too bad. By itself, I would say maybe 20 minutes, open hood to drive away. With a cold engine of course.
As far as he CAI, the official story is that they coulnd't make one with gains, so they didn't make one. I think the clearance restrictions (like no air filter allowed in the fender well, or no oil feed line allowed within two inches of the intake pipe to prevent the possibilty of chaffing.) they have that the aftermarket does not made the difference. Will CAIs make some power? I think so.
Note the above are my imagined restrictions, they do not reflect reality in any way.

Do watch your dealer guys. One local owner here had a problem with a dealer installed BOV that seemed too quiet. Of course he was too proud to ask for assistance, so it was like that for a while before he got told it was on the wrong way. [&:]
Good advice because the mechanics don't see that many SRT-4's since there's not that many out there compared to Rams, Vans, etc....I'm going to test drive it before paying for the labor charge.[sm=smiley24.gif]

Forgot to add a "second" on the kudos for Modern Performance. I've bought several items from them and have never had a problem. They even reduce my shipping charges because I live only 200 miles away. Real Pros!!![sm=smiley20.gif]
