Is the car supposed to make some gearbox noise during low 1-2nd gear stuff (on off throttle lightly, etc) I am hearing what seems to be like a meshing sound when I let out the clutch in 1,2nd gear, and when I am off and on the gas in either gear. It does go away after 2000 rpm, but is quite pronounced until then. It also goes away when I push the clutch in. Is this normal? Anyone else have this and know why? (Yes, I am panicking, the car has 200 miles) I am doing the nice break in and not hammering on it.

 

yes that is normal.. this car has a noisy trany, so nothing to worry about.

yeah if you cruise at like 25 in 3rd your car will feel like its going to die, it still gets me worried sometimes. and the idle with s2 is off but sounds like a purring cat.

 

Big gears make big noise. I'll take the trade off.

 

wow glad i read this, i forgot to downshift in traffic the other day and thought i did something horribly wrong when i heard that noise.. very scary
