SRT-4 vs. SRT-8
PC, I do dis agree with a couple of things. The top end is real. There is supposed to be a 165 limiter, but it could very well be like the SRT-4s limiter, vaporware
The -4 would indeed take the AutoX, due to weight. the -8 would kick but on almost any other 4100lbs sedan out there, but the -4 only weighs 3100. The -8 does indeed have spilt folding seatbacks, but you would not have to use them as often, due to the "3 body" trunk
And, no, the use of chainsaw to up your body caount is not authorized, Uncle Vinnies a neat freak
As to traction, the -8 does come with not only traction control, but also stability control. If you get ugly in a turn, the car will physically bring you back on line, Ive wrung one out on a wet skidpad, it seems to defy physics. And also brake assist.
Now, a talented driver really would not need either, but the average driver will be much safer.
All this said, I love my -4 enough that I willingly pushed back my purchase of the Charger SRT-8 til the 07s, just so I didnt have to sell the -4 to amke the numbers work. This way I'll have the best of both worlds. Two low 13s-high 12s cars, one a gymnast, one a linebacker
Road trips in comparative luxury, commute with the buzz bomb

It's nice to agree to disagree, but, I am not wholly disagreeing either.
I just said I don't believe the top end is 172, and I still dont. 172 is huge!
If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.
As far as traction goes, traction control is nice, even life saving, but it does not "create' traction, it in reality, limits slip. The SRT-4 just has superior traction due to the fact it has a greater percentage of the cars total mass sitting over the drive wheels. Put both cars on a frozen lake and race them. Straight line or round and round and I'll put my money on the front driver. Now the person in the Charger my be less prone to knocking cones over with the traction control on (and that's good for all of us) BUT it will just be going slower and the little fwd car will most likely be winning any speed contest even with only mediocre drivers. A big reason for this, (besides having actually better traction) is fwd is generally easier for novice drivers to handle because of the power understeer.

cj, is your friend really considering the SL65???? if so, tell him to go with Porsche Carrera Turbo, no question. My opinion: if I had the 180k for a SL65, I would get a 120k Carrera Turbo and have 60k left over...maybe mod it some. But I am absolutely in love with the look of the carrera. In my opinion it's the best looking car ever made...
