I raced a friend of mine in his GT eclipse last night and i noticed i didnt really pull away until third gear.....

Granted i gave him a little head start but ive driven his car and its slow.

What is the best rpm to shift into the next gear? Im going to the track tommorrow and im trying to get my best time in the quarter and felt that u guys could help me out.. with your infinate knowledge of srt`s.

Should i let it red line a little or just shift at the red help out a newb here.

 

1st i smack you in the back of the head for not having at least 20 car lengths on a gs eclipse (GS= 140hp 3300lbs)

but it sounds like your new and launches take a while to get used to so to answer your question. a lot of people will say 5800 which is a good point depending on how well you can shift. if your new or a slow shifter then id keep it at 5800. now if you want to break 100mph trap speed shift at 6100 but make sure you can do this before hand.

that being said its up to you if you can shift at 58 or 61 good luck on 60's at the track. make sure to tell us what you got.

and it was a GT 2001 eclipse V6 ( 205hp 2800 lbs ) so i figured i didnt shift all that bad but the track will tell

 

returns head smack... sorry im dont consider 3rd gen eclipses, eclipses...

 

Speaking of head smack my girl friend smacked me in mine when she saw the girl in ur little info area there and told me to stop looking at ****. go figure..
