okay heres the story my name is chris im from edmonton alberta in 2004 i bought myself a brand new electric blue neon sport 5 speed with a leather interior and evrey option possible . It was a great car but i always wanted an srt 4 for 2 years now its been a dream of mine but i made do by trying to make my neon go faster cold air intake , underdrive pully , jet chip , msd wires , and a borla catback dual exhaust . it ended up being quite the quik little neon but it wasnt an srt 4 . So last week i go into the dealership " just to look around " at least thats what i told my girlfreind unknown to her was the fact that i had checked the internet and saw that the dealership had just got a black srt 4 it had high miles but it was an srt 4 right. So needless to say i was in that thing before she was out of the car i loved it but it had high miles and they wanted to much money so i drove home that day dejected and feeling sort of lost . The next day i decided to go back to the dealership and take another look needless to say" i had the bug " .So i grab a salesman and we start talking about the car he asks me how i like it i say its nice but its got high miles on it and im not a big fan of black he asks what color i would perfer i say probably blue so he just turns around and says follow me im alittle confused by this point i get led to the back of the shop and sitting there is a mint condition 2004 srt 4 with only 10000 miles on it and its blue . Well that was it for me within an hour i had it all set up and i was gonna get my srt 4 in 2 days , the dealer still had to do mechanical inspeticon on the car so they said i had to wait 2 days i was fine with that because i got 4 new tires and they redid all the brakes for me "bonus" . The bad part is its november in alberta and within those 2 days it went from nice dry roads to -20 celsius and a couple feet of snow .so after 2 years of waiting i have my dream car and i cant even drive it hard till late april but i have my srt 4 finally . Im a refrigeration mechaninc so ill make you all a deal ill help you fix your air conditoners if you help me make my car go faster "hahahahhahah" . i know im not funny .

Hi all! My name's Chris and I work as a juvenile corrections officer after 20 years in the Army as a grunt.

Proud new owner of an '05 red SRT4. My wife had (emphasis on had ) a really sharp Focus until it met it's end against a telephone pole when she fell asleep driving home from work. No one was hurt but the Focus died an undignified death, bleeding out with bits everywhere. So after picking up the check from the insurance company we paid it off and started over. Now, I'll probably get branded a heretical blasphemer and asked to leave when I say this but my first and forever love is the Mustang. *ducks* My wife nixed the Mustang idea pretty quick as too uneconomical. So, not able to have a Mustang we kept looking.

We were out looking at stuff like Sentra SE-R's because she wanted something with decent mileage but was fun to drive. We accidentally found the '05 with only 3,563 miles on it sitting on a used lot. According to the salesman, so consider the source, a guy had bought it for club racing but had gotten into a diving accident and was now paralyzed. They took it as a consignment sale. It really did only have 3,653 on it and I got it for 17K.

I honestly was never a huge fan of the SRT's aesthetics. I always thought the stance was too "nose down" and the butt looked too light to me. At my wife's urging we stopped to take a look at it because it had an '05 sticker on the window. I was sort of "ho hum" about it when the salesman came out and we started gabbing. I know a lot about cars but not as much as I should to own the car I do now, that's why I'm here. I'm a displacement/muscle car guy but when it comes to turbo's I'm about as ignorant as they come. So we're gabbing to the salesman and I see the embossed "2.4 Liter" on the hood scoop. That raised an eyebrow. Pretty big 4 cylinder... We gabbed some more and I started noticing the intercooler under the faschia... Now I knew the Neon's had killed in SCCA events but I'd never even driven one in Gran Turismo. LOL He handed me the keys and I slipped into the seat.. Oh wooow, niiiice seats.. (I'm tall and slender enough to fit between the bolsters just right ) .. Key in.. "Don't rev it, it's a turbo" the salesman says..

"gotcha"..

Clutch in.. stick in nuetral.. Key...

The exhaust sound...

"Wow!" I say with big eyes..

The salesman just smiles.. "Lets go for a ride." Wife piles in the back and the salesman says "You know what kind of car this is, wring it out."

Now I'm a little incredulous at this point but he was all about me really trying it out. I tell him I once owned and street raced a non-turbo '86 RX-7 and he was all smiles. "Go for it." he says.



So... after a lengthy test drive that took me up around 120 mph and trying my best to bend the frame around some old curvy roads we got back to the dealership. I opened my cell phone and called the loan officer who had earlier in the day been handed the pay-off on the Focus. " '05 Dodge Neon SRT-4.. 3,653 miles and they want around 17 for it.."

I closed my phone and told the salesman I'd be back in an hour with a check for "my" car.

And so began my love affair with my little red rocket. I'll try to get a picture up as soon as I can.

 

hi, Names Will I am coming over from the DSM world, me and my girl are both huge DSM lovers. I have owned a 95' GS Eclipse and a 92' GSX Eclipse, and she has had a 97' GS, 97'RS and an 05' EVO befor we got the SRT4. The neon is not going to be a heavely modded car like the EVO or the GSX where. So far the SRT only has a catch can BOV spacer and turbo back exaust and mopar stage 3 coilovers (only the front are still installed because the rears failed and had to be trashed). I love it it makes a great in town toy. now the important part pics LOL;

 

My name is Chase and I'm new to the forum and of owing an srt. Just got it a few weeks back and its all stock except the $20occ. I live in the western subs if Chicago and work for Walmart as an Assistant Manager. Future mods will come but the cash is gotta come first.

hey!! well my name is william from san antonio and im 20yrs old. i had driven a98 neon earlier this year, decided to upgrade and bought this 04 srt in march of 06. never looked back after i went down this road!!! thought about trading it in for an evo. . . . NAH!!! why downgrade!! LOL
