I finally had a good long drive in my SRT-4 to really check out what kind of gas mileage it can get. Previously the best I had gotten when I checked it on a fairly decent drive I only got 21.9 MPG. This time I went on a trip that went about 260 miles round trip and it actually got over 32.5 MPG![sm=happy046.gif][sm=happybounce.gif][sm=groupwave.gif] I couldn't believe it, I thought I would definately have to get gas on or before the trip back, but it was above half a tank when I got there and I thought it had to be wrong, but it wasn't. I guess that their 22-30 MPG rating is for real if you can keep your foot out of it.

 

How many miles on it?

 

Just about any car can get great gas mileage...it's all about how you drive it.

I took my Z26 Beretta to florida. It was a 3.1L V6 with a CAI and I only filled up 3 times. Mind you, I went to Key West, FL from Indianapolis, IN. It's roughly 1400 miles. I was averaging about 420 to the tank. My car only had at most a 15 gallon tank. I was averaging 73-75 m.p.h. on my trip.

I used cruise almost 90% of the time....and honestly...it helps. If you drive alot on a highway or even drive alot on long stretches of road...you really should use your cruise control...

How many gallons does the SRT hold? I think my neon has the smallest gas tank of any vehicle I've ever owned at 12.5 gallons. I can't think of many cars with a smaller tank then that. And I would agree 100% with devil about cruise control. If I drive on the highway and use cruise control my car gets insane mileage. However if I don't use it the mileage is not usually so good.

 

my low fuel light comes on at 9.5 gal to fillup, ive never put more than 10.5 gals in after the light was flashing....whew 12.5 capacity, room to spare. I get 21.5 mpg with lots of short trips to n from work. Remember those in tank fuel pumps require fuel for cooling the pump.

 

Use Cruise control --- why didn't I think about that!!!! lol - Maybe since they neglected to put it on the car.

My light is extra pessimistic. It goes on at 7.8 gallons or so. The other day, pretty funny, I drove 95 miles after the light came on and it still only took 11.3 gallons. Mine flashes at 9.5 gallons as well.

 

IF you really got over 30 MPG, I am reporting you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you can get milage like that out of an SRT, you are not driving it right!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOu need to use that turbo it came with, lol

 

I was a little upset when i found out we didnt have cruise control whats with that? and i did 80 from tampa to alabama and thats about 580 miles and i used 2 and a half tanks...

 

That's just the thing, except for the steady freeway driving which was the largest portion of the driving, I was driving it the way I always do when I get only 21.9 MPG or less. I didn't think with Stage 1's added fuel, or any of the Stage upgrades for that matter, that anything near 30 MPG would even be possible. I guess the other mods make up the difference then.

 

Ahh silly ppl srt4 doesn't have cruise control wish they did tho like the caliber srt4...
