Default Stinky Clutch?

i went to the track today on DRs for the first time. Only ran a 13.6 @ 102 with stage 2 no toys, 3inch cutout and CAI.The trap speed seems kind of low. That time is also too slow. My burnout sucked and I think that I might of cooked the clutch. It smelled horrible. Will this go away, or do I need a new clutch?

If it smells like a fart, rotten eggs, or any of the like, it will go away and yeah you burnt it, but if you dont smell clutch its not a good race. If it smells like something other than that, I doubt you caused any serious damage, but Id be careful in the future.

i've never smelt clutch at the track, you shouldn't be smelling it at all.

what did you do during the burnout that you think might have caused you to burn it?

nothing wrong with that, i do 2nd gear burn outs at the track too. but you just might not have enough power to handle it just yet, and your clutch obviously wasn't too pleased. try it in 1st and dump it from like 5k, keeping the rpms right around 4-5k throughout. once you start to see smoke, get out of it. and please remember to RIDE IT OUT.

My main concern is will my clutch be ok? I am sure I took some of it's life away.

When you say dump it, do you mean side step it?

i mean dump it. rev it up and rip your foot off the clutch. in a burn out you're trying to shock the tires into spinning, not like launching where you want traction. do a quick spin through the water box then pull up a few feet and let her rip.

you probably did take some life out of the clutch, but probably not enough to be concerned about. just watch it the next few days and make sure that it's not slipping at all. you probably glazed it a little and need to resurface it, some regular street driving will do it just fine.

Thanks PSI. I was hoping you answer this post. I need to get up to Englishtown sometime. It is about an hour or so away. I need some coaching.
