just traded the srt-4 for...
An Evo (boo, hiss...yeah, I know). As much as I liked the 4 I just had to make a change. AWD was the biggest reason.
I'm losing my mind, though, because I've gotta be real careful during break-in. Apparently Evo's are sensitive to this in the first 600 miles. It's tough but I'm trying to be strong. [:@]
The reason I'm posting is that I'll probably come back in a few months with an honest comparision between the 4 and the new ride. I'm concerned I won't like the Evo enough to justify the extra dough involved. Fact is, I'd be real happy if the motor feels as good as the 4 did.
If you see a big, 'ol dude in a silver-ish Evo (in the Seattle area), don't try to race me - I'm afraid I'll take you up on it and we'll both get in trouble.

EVOs are awesome. Just like the WTI ...
I own a SRT4 but I like those too...
Cars are like girls you may be happy with the one you have but man the others look good too!!
I would expect a great review for a car that runs what 10k more and is stock under 5 seconds 0 to 60!
Congrats what year?

I drove one and was overly unimpressed with it. But to each his own, Im not driving it. As long as your happy with the car and what you plan to do with it, thats all that truly matters.
Am curious.....
Why were you unimpressed with it? What did you not like about it? Power? Ride? Handling? Did you like it before you drove it?
I love the looks of the cars and would like to have one. My expectations, from how much they sell for, would be pretty high, though.
If I could choose the car that I'd most like to have, it would be a vette, but the Evo would be second. Anyhow, what did you dislike about it?

Well when I shut the door I felt like I was in a tin can. The tranny didnt feel as strong as the tranny in my SRT, or maybe it was just the EVO i was driving. No I hated the handling, but didnt mind the AWD, though its mostly an FWD car until AWD is neccessary. I dont really like the looks of them at all, but I figured ****, if Im gonna go for something in the class Im gonna try them all.
The powerband was there, just not as torquey as the SRT. The SRT seemed peppier to me. And that interior...good lord I wouldve killed myself if I had to look at that everyday.
All in all, I hated the car, inside and out. But like I said, thats just me.....everyone has a different opinion about this stuff. This just happens to be mine. I have respect for them, but no I dont like them.
And hell yeah Ive driven a C5...though it was an automatic (its my friends car) that ****er MOOOOOOOOOVES! Its not the car I would MOST like to have, that would be a viper. But the vette is a pretty sweet car.

I got an '05 Evo VIII. The IX is out but the improvements weren't enough to justify the great deal I got on the VIII.
My initial impression is that it handles better than the 4 stock for stock. Reacts like a go-kart and corners flat as any of the Vettes I've and Porsches owned.
It's also more comfortable for me. The SRT was so narrow I had to do the "gangsta lean" because my shoulders are too wide for that car (6'4", 275). It's no issue in the Evo. I really like the Evo Recaro seats, too, and the fact that I was able to get leather.
On the down side, the SRT has a bunch more low-end which I think I'll miss. Since I can't yet explore what the Evo does I can't say much about overall power. I get the feeling it'll be pretty good but based on what I've read it seems that, from a roll, the SRT is at probably an even match - maybe better given it's lower weight.

LilSparkPlug,
Why the SexySrtChick thing on your sig? I've seen this a bunch (you post a lot) and just had to ask.
BTW, I notice you mention driving a C5. I had an 2000 convertible and thought it was the Buick of Vettes. Nice, comfy but didn't seem all that fast for the 50K I spent.

something else I am curious about......
Why?
If you had vette's and porsche's, and now an EVO, then how in the hell did you end up with an SRT-4??? Why abandon those types of cars for this type of car??
I have this friend (REAL ONE GUYS) and he has a C-5 Vette, and I am telling you, it is a lot faster than my car is. When he steps down on it, the torque is so great that you feel as though you are experiencing G forces. The thing is,,,,his car, stock, run a 13.5 through the quarter, and my run a 14.1 through the quarter. That doesn't sound like much of a difference, but it feels like a helluva lot of difference.
Anyhow, after having vette's and Porshe's, it's hard to imagine that you could ever have been happy with an SRT-4.
