Default 13.5 quarter???

Good lord I am confused!
I have read and read and seems to be as many people who hate their stage 2 w/o toys as those that love it. I am concerned because for over 1000 when you add the cat back I would like to have read more good then bad.

However here is my question:

I am running 14 to 14.2 100% stock in the quarter. I know if I work on it I can get under 14. This I will work on. From what I have read 13.9 is about as fast as one can expect stock.

I am looking to get to 13.5. ( this is fast enough for me-for now ) Will stage 2 w/o toys + a mopar 2.5 catback + short throw shifter and MM inserts get me there?? Anyone running this setup getting around 13.5 ??

Or is stage 1 with catback +short throw and MM inserts all I need to do this??

I dont want to tune, I dont want to get toys because where I live it wont pass inspection and $$$, I dont want the stage 1 wga map clamp route...Just want mopar bolt on and go.

Thanks in advance for any answers and comments.

Your leaving out tires. Now I dont know nothin bout nothin but I've gone 13.86 on a 100% stock motor. With that in mind, I'm guessing good sticky 225 or 235 tires, an exhaust and a stage one will get ya to a 13.5. (with practice)

With high octane mode off I clicked a 13.3 at 107 with s2 on street tires the other day. It was my first time at the dragstrip ever, at a poorly prepped track, so I would expect that a lot better is possible.

Heck---Why go for 13.5? With s2, if that is in your price range, you can get to 13.0. Throw some drag radials in the mix for a sub 2.0 60' and you might just get into the 12's with a couple simple mopar plug and play bolt-ons.

Also for around 220, you can get a box and block-off connector that will pass inspection/emissions if you are inclined to go for the turbo toys.

s2 with toys performs better than the w/out toys kits, even on pump gas. this has been shown many times. so you can't really compare what you did at the track to a non-toys set up.

you can do a 13.5 on street tires with s2 no toys.

Very interesting, Amy. I wonder why - did they program the "toys ecu's" more aggressively?

Maybe DAB 2 is easier to launch? I did hit a 13.4 with DAB 3 on despite traction issues, though. My best time was in DAB 2.

Here is a question - if you get a s2 with toys, and don't install the toys will it still work???? I bet you could sell them and make up the difference if so...and maybe do a lil' better with the toys ecu?????

yes, it will still work. the non-toys and even toys ecu's that don't have the toys installed defaults to setting 2. we are not sure why no toys acts differently than toys, but it does.

If 13.5's is your goal, get a set of drag radials and do the spring / bleed mod.

I ran 13.53@101 on BFG gForce 225/50R15 drag radials w/ just the bleed mod and spring mod. It was running about 16psi dropping to about 13-14 @ redline, that was with a 2.001 60' I later got 1.9 60's out of the drag radials but had additional mods as well...

DAB 2 give you less boost in 1st & 2nd gear so it is easier to hook up on street tires. DAB 3 is for slicks.
