Default Tinted The Windows

I personally think all cars look so much better with tint, and it really does help with heat and all that aswell.

I like to do things myself, but I tinted my trucks door windows myself and while it didn't turn out bad they didn't turn out great particularly around the edges so I figured I cant go wrong paying someone to do it and saving headaches and have a nice looking job.

I planned on going 15% all around, but they said they were low on 15 so I just went with 5 on the back 3 windows and 15 on the fronts... Worked out pretty good, if I could get away with it I'd prefer 5 all the way around but I hope the 15 on the front will keep the cops off my case. I really think it makes a big difference in appearance!

And while/if I still have your attention, rather than making a new thread, how long did you guys wait to start really getting on your car? I'm at over 600 today and started testing it out from 1st and 2nd. I figure the all the manual says is 300 miles and I waited to about 500 to even boost it up in 1st or 2nd, but of course being a new car I start feeling bad like maybe I should wait longer. I'm not talking about constantly racing light to light, but I'm sure you all know, once you run through 1-3 once its hard not to do it again!

Now those are some DARK windows! Looks good, though.

Just curious,,,,what kind of wheels/color are you going to be putting on the car.

As far as the break in goes, I really didn't get hard on mine till it had 1500 miles on it. I think I kept the tach less than 4k up till then. It's probably just me, but I am out of the old school. Its machinery and as such, I think you should take it easy on it until it gets "set." However, I'm sure everyone will disagree with that philosophy, but that's the way i went. I'm kind of like LSP, though. I don't really run mine all that hard. I'd just rather be safe than sorry. If I broke it in easy and it broke down later on, I wouldn't think much about it, because I would FEEL that I did everything right. However, if I drove it hard during the break in and it broke down later on, I would be constantly blaming myself for driving the car too hard too soon. Just my thoughts.

I'm leaning towards a black rim with chrome lip, but honestly haven't even started to look at rims at all yet. I don't plan to swap them out untill I burn up these tires but who knows for sure. Don't know much about the fitment on these cars but I think an 18" and wider tire would improve the look of the car. I know when I put the 305s on my truck it looked so much meaner with the fat tires on there.

I hear you on the break in... I didn't go wot in my truck untill after 1000 miles. I just couldn't help myself in this car though. I don't want it to sound like I'm out beating on the car, but I've ran through the gears a good handfull of times now. I don't know, maybe I'll start going easier again untill about a 1000 or something.

I'd love to have my windows tinted, but I drive to work in the morning while it's still dark and there are a good number of joggers and bicycle people on the road. I've had a couple of near misses already with "clear" windows, so I hate to think what would happen if I tinted them. I can't wait to move to Colorado and run over a bison or an elk instead.............

Yeah... I'm curious to see how the night vision is going to be with this tint... I have 5% on my rear window on my truck and trying to back up or just see behind me at night sucks, so I imagine it'll be even harder in this.

I have 5% only on the back 3 windows, none of my front three are done...yet that is. I have no problems at all now that Im used to it. Backing up I just use the sideview mirrors, never the rearview so thats not an issue either. I have a doctors note that states I can have all of them done, since I can only see out of one eye, but right now my preference is leaning towards winter wheels and tires, and getting the bra that I ordered on the car so that the winter doesn't kill my front end again.

Once you get used to it, its really not that bad at all. Probably somewhat different than the truck since the truck is so high off the ground. My brother has 15% all around on his lifted Ram 1500 and I cant see out of that backing up for jack ****, but my car has 5% done by the same exact place...and Im fine.

*Edit* I waited till around 3000 miles to really get on the car, after I got the ****ty *** oil from the factory out of the engine and swapped to the Mobil1 10w30 (before they changed it in the manual to 5w30). Then again...I really dont get on the car much anyways.

Damn, now that really makes me feel bad for getting on my car! I don't think I'd be able to make it to 3000 without getting on it for anything. I do feel good that the manual from Dodge only talks about 300 miles, so I'll keep reminding myself that to make me feel better lol

And I just took it out for awhile tonight to check out how it is at night, and it's actually not bad at all. I have to back out of my garage through the driveway with two cars parked on it though a narrow *** strip then dodge the parked cars on the street, it really wasn't much harder than it was without the tint. It's harder to see out the side windows than the back one because of the back up lights.

Well dont feel bad because of me!!! I drive like Grandma! Ask RIPSIGUY......hes busted my ***** about it on here quite a few times before. I got into a bad accident, and just tend not to get on it anymore. From time to time, yes temptation is irresistable, but I dont think I break 73mph AT ALL on a monthly basis. Maybe once.... LOL

Thats just how I drive, according to the manual. The manual knows best, so dont feel bad about me, but change the oil its got in it as soon as you can to Mobil1 5w30 and if its anything like the **** *** oil that was in my car, youll notice a huge difference, and a faster spool.

Cool... I plan on changing it out at 1000. I'm almost at 700... Almost 600 miles since Tuesday, 1000 will be here quick lol. I think I have a driving problem.

And on another note, (damn this is getting off topic from tint) I got 21mpg on my second tank of gas in the car, which is strange change from 12-13 in the truck. And $25 fill ups, vs $50-60!

I got 34mpg highway in my friends SRT. I usually average around 26-34mpg highway in my car.

I have a huge driving problem.....In 12 months (Ive had the car for 15 but for about 3.5 it was down not including down time at dealerships) I have almost 33,000 miles on it. I have no life, and all I do is drive all weekend long. Your not alone in that respect.
