Default Boost Gauges

I recently had the boost gauge in my SRT go out of calibration. Along with it going out of calibration it made a buzzing noise. I have a turbo track car and decided to pull the boost gauge out of it and put it in the SRT. It made the same buzzing racket. So, I took that gauge out and put one of my spare boost gauges in to see if it would make the same noise and…..yes it did. What’s the deal here? My thought was to put an after-market boost gauge in the SRT but with all the noise both of my other gauges made I don’t want to spend the $$. In the end, I had the dealer replace the gauge under warranty and there is no noise at all. What are you guys/gals using for after-market boost gauges that don’t make an annoying buzz noise?
My buddy purchased an SRT 4 about a month ago and he now has about 900 miles on it. His boost gauge is doing the same as mine did. It’s going out of calibration and buzzing. Strangely enough his boost gauge took a dump at about the same miles mine did, around 900. I’m making a prediction that my new/replaced OEM boost will take a dump again. Suggestions on what’s up with the buzzing and a nice after-market boost gauge would be great.

wierd - I have had mine replaced. But i never heard anything like that in any srt-4. Maybe it is a '05 thing starting to surface?

mine went out of calibration around 5000 miles. i didn't bother getting it replaced under warranty, i got a mopar/autolite 30/30 electric. has some nice features and is an easy install. i've had it in for about two years and it's still going strong. it zero's itself everytime you turn on the car so it stays pretty well calibrated.

As I search around I've found that the OEM boost gauges in these SRT 4s fail quite a bit. Not only has mine failed but my buddy's has too...Both (05's). I've found many posts on the matter. Perhaps Dodge should have used a different scale such as 30/30. Maybe the one that came with the car can't handle the constant needle swing from 23 VAC to 16 Boost over time...and in my case a short time.

The buzz is still a mystery to me. I don't understand why both of my other boost gauges made this noise when I hooked them up to my SRT 4. I will add that the buzz was not throughout the entire range of motion of the needle but always there and annoying. I was thinking that maybe the OEM SRT 4 Pro-Comp gauge was proprietary and that somehow it is able to dampen this buzzing. I say this because once the dealer replaced it with the factory one....no buzz. What the heck? Are there any other thoughts or comments on this. How many of you have had a broken boost gauge?...any buzzing noise from any of yours if they did fail? Thanks.

My gauge was pretty messed up but it was quiet and did not buzz.

My gauge went a while back and so did my buddies, the only difference was that mine made the buzzing noise and his didn't, they where both 2004's purchased around the same time. August of 04

It must be an '05 thing. And thank goodness its not just me that has this issue. People in my car think I'm crazy, but the stupid gauge really does make a weird buzzing noise. I am gonna take mine in this week to get it replaced.
