If you could explain more PSI and Dragon I would appreciate it. The lack of 100 octane is what is stopping me from getting the toys. I assumed that you needed the higher octane to get the full potential out of the toys.

I'll kick in here. There are definitely many ways to hold HOM without 100 octane in stage 2.

The easiest and cheapest(which I and many others have done numerous times) is to get some NOS(don't laugh) racing formula octane booster or Lucas Octane booster and put it in the tank and fill up with 93 or 94 if it is available near you. You can get them at Autozone, or whatever you have nearby, or your local speedshop. It will cost you between 8 and 13 dollars, and you can hold HOM all day long. I have never been kicked out of HOM doing this, ever.

As PSIChick mentioned, W/I will keep it held as well.

There are other methods, as well, but these are the most common.

I'll happily pay 800$ (is s2 without only 680$????I paid 1480 with toys, new.) for a .4 to a half second in the 1/4. That is a huge difference and you would easily pay that much to effectuate it with other parts.

s2 w/out toys is $750. i paid $1300 for my s2 w/toys. so that's a $550 difference. that's the cost of a ebc that would get you two, possibly three maps. one could be tuned for race gas, however that requires more money to pay for the tuning. not to mention that the dab feature with s2/s3 is technically a 4 stage boost controller with an automatic low/high boost function in one setting. name me a single aftermarket ebc that can do all that and be tuned to advance timing for race gas for $550. a emanage/e01 set up is as close as you can get, and that costs over $800 just for the parts, not including installation and tuning.

i found that s2 would hold hom with torco. i never tried the other products that you mentioned, but now i have to use C16 anyway so it doesn't really apply to me. w/i seems to work very well holding hom, and it's not that expensive. you can get a kit for about $350 now, maybe less. i've seen used kits going for $225.

Thank you for elaborating, Amy. I just don't get why people poo poo the value in stage 2 with toys. It is a pre-tuned, reliable, well accesorized package. It will drop a stock srt-4's time in the 1/4 by 3/4 of a second, with little detriment, and some nice safety features built right in. To duplicate it would cost the same or more, and be less reliable.

If you want to be under the hood every day, then fine, go the independant aftermarket route. Me, I would rather spend time working on new parts to add to what is done and working properly, instead of spending all of my time troubleshooting what is already there.

Thanks for the info PHR and PSI. I really wanted the toys, but I was under the impression that you NEEDED the 100 octane. Obviously from what you told me you don't, so now I'm back to seriously thinking about the toys. The $800 was in Canadian dollars, so that would be around $600 USD. Now if I can just convince the wife to let me buy everything I want.
Oh, and I agree with you about the reliable package PHR. My car is a daily driver, so the reliabilty is a must, however taking it out to the track every now and then is something that definately intrests me. That and kicking the crap out of all the Mustangs around my neighborhood would be fun as well.
