More 1/4 mile help please!
These runs were all done in around the 50s, and I have done some runs in the 40s with the same results.
Again thanks everyone for the replies. One last thing I need some extra help with is on the launch. I don't follow how exactly it is you're supposed to take off the line... I realized I have been riding the clutch WAY too much and I think that is one factor hurting my times. I was basically using the clutch to kill wheel spin all while slowly adding more throttle. But what I dont understand is, when you say hold the RPMs at whatever RPM, how exactly do you take off? Do you hold the throttle steady while releasing the clutch? I was basically taking off like you would normally at any time, but from a higher RPM, feeding the throttle while releasing the clutch if you get what I'm saying... I think I was misunderstanding some of the things I read.

By the sounds of your last entry, you are finally starting to get it. This car does best launched at a VERY LOW rpm. Get the clutch all the way out and let the engine do the work. Practice holding the rpms steady at 1500 before you let the clutch out. What I mean here is sometimes you hear people revving up and down before they take off. That is not the hot ticket. Just breathe on the gas enough to be at 1500 and keep it as steady as possible until the clutch starts to grab then move the gas and clutch in opposite directions. (Not trying to oversimplify) A good launch is in all reality, little more than a regular street start.
I'm guessing you were trying too hard and slipping the clutch way too much.
Just walk it out and let the engine do the work. No fancy clutch slipping. If you get a bog, up the rpms by 100 'till no bog.

what kind of exhaust did you get?
Edit....due to the fact that I did not read your next post before this one. I know now what kind of exhaust you have. And yes, give us a detailed analysis of the new exhaust.

Cool, I think I got the idea now. Day off tommarrow, plus new exhaust on, no doubt I'll have to go out try some tommarrow.

Definetly will Word
posthonda, I've never touched tire pressure yet. So, yes, I know that's bad and is yet another factor contributing to my bad times. I will be taking the advice from this thread and moving the presssure down next time I attempt some runs. But probably after I do a couple with the same pressure to test the Mopar exhaust just to try and get an accurate before and after.

Will I be cool to drive like 10 miles out to my spot with the lower pressure? I'm sure it would be fine considering you're going 100mph on the tires with the pressure anyhow lol.
Next trip out I will definetly be lowering the pressure and I will post the results. 2.1 would sounds like a good number to shoot for. Sure would be nice!
Also, I did a few runs on the Mopar exhaust today. I'm posting the results in my exhaust thread.
