RE: new exhuast bypass pipe with elecric door
electric cut outs are notorious for failure. they are nothing new, they've been around for years. they have improved the designs of the motors, but they still are prone to failiure due to the abuse that they take. exposure to the elements, getting hit by rocks, excessive heating/cooling of the exhaust pipes, and more. because of this it takes a heavy toll on the motors themselves. this causes the motors to loose strength and not close completly causing exhaust leaks, or get stuck open or closed. they can easliy be fixed, but it does require removal of the motor and sending it back for repairs. now not every single motor is going to have a problem, but it's common enough that it's something to think about.
most electric cut outs have a one year warranty. if it doesn't fail within the first year, it will probably do so within the 13th month. they are horrible for that and are known for it. the srt community likes to believe that the cutouts that we have are not the same as every other car out there. they can keep believing that.
as you can probably guess, i'm not a fan of electric cut outs. the manual ones are more of a pain, but more reliable long-term.
