Default Braking in snow

I had a new experience the other day that I thought I would post on this forum. Here it is: The wife & I were out xmas shopping and it started to snow before we got done. I started to leave the parking lot and came to a stop sign. When I tried to stop the brake pedal move violently up & down like it was having an orgasm and the car sounded like it was falling apart. My dealer happened to be close by and I stopped there to let the service manager drive it. He said it was normal because the tires slipped on the slippery snow, I thought ABS was not suppose to do this. (I only had ABS in the rear wheels until now) Anyways, I was not happy with his answer and would like to ask all you very knowledgeable Ladies & Gentlemen if this is common. I did replace the summer tires with winter tires before this experience. Thank you for your replies and have a very merry Christmas & a wonderfull New Year.

Yep, sounds right. That is what all Chrysler vehicles with 4 wheel ABS feels & sounds like. Nothing to worry about. It is a big surprise the first time it kicks in though. It would make anyone scared that didn't know what the hell was going on.

The owner's manuals usually warn you about this. It IS a surprise at first, but considering what it avoids, I can live with it.

That horrible pulsation and dead pedal you feel is the only thing that will stop you in a short panic situation. 'sgood.

Isn't that such a wonderful experience? I almost took out a sign because I wasn't used to it. It's very interesting at first, but you get used to it. I think that now that it has snowed so much (I live in Colorado) I am very in touch with how my car does. . . . good things to know!
