If you upgrade your car to a stg 1,2,3 turbo will it still pass ny inspection?

 

I think NY has a staged upgrade problem passing inspection....could be wrong. PSIChick knows more being from that state.

 

depends on which stage you get and if you get toys or not. s1 is fine, no issues there at all. s2 with no toys is fine as well. it's the toys that causes a problem. you'll have to get a tranny simulator to remove the codes that the toys ecu programing has. s3 we're still trying to figure out what's going on with the ecu. since it's the same ecu for toys and non-toys (the upgrade is the same), it's assumed that the ecu will throw the tranny codes even if you don't have toys. we have not found a s3 w/o toys to test this theory yet.

 

Heck, move to Texas, we have hundreds of Mexican trucks crossing our borders every hour thanks to NAFTA. Most of them have major mechanical problems, but nobody says a word......even after they crash and take out American lives........[:@]

If I did the stg upgrade I'd probably go to Stg 2 w/o toys then and later on upgrade to the stg 3 with the tranny simulator. I'm just not sure how confident I'd be in wiring that in. Heh, I say if like I might not be doing this. Who am I kidding.....I caught the SRT virus already. 1,100 miles on the car and I'm already researching.....oh god....

 

Where can you pick up a tranny simulator and for how much?

the tranny simulator is plug and play. all you do is mount the box (which is really small and can really just be zip tied to something) and plug the c4 connector into the ecu. that's it. you can get it from n2mbracing, it should be availible soon. they keep redesigning it to make it better, so it's delayed the release.
