Buying an SRT-4
I am looking at buying a SRT-4. I am looking for the pros and cons of the car. and it is obviously a sports car so there are all kinds of mods but is it spendy to hook this car up.
I hope you're prepared to spend a lot of time reading the responses to your post.
In a nutshell, it's a cheap pocket rocket that's got the most bang for the buck.
Some people shun the car due to the Neon image.
The front seats: Love 'em or hate 'em.
A wide assortment of upgrades are available.
You can smoke a new Mustang GT with a minimum of $$.
It takes time to learn how to launch properly.
Some dealers may try to void your warranty if you upgrade.
Driving in the snow will mean new tires/wheels.
That's just for starter's......other's will chime in, I promise!!!!

Honestly the only CONs I can think up for me are:
The whole "its a neon" image... Very easy to get over though once you're behind the wheel.
FWD
Probably associated with the whole sport compact "fast and the furious" type crowd by the general public who doesn't know about the car
One that could be considered in the middle is you will get A LOT of attention. For the most part from other cars that are fast, or from people who think their car is fast. People will rev on you, and try to race you often.
PROS
Everything else... I honestly love everything else about the car, so far. Fast stock and easily can be made faster. 20+ MPG in normal driving. Sounds great, not like some ricer 4 banger. I personally love the interior. It's fun to drive.
I sold my 4.7L Ram for this car and haven't regreted it for a second.

I was terribly disappointed when they came out with the SRT-4 and kept it a 4 door. I absolutely hated 4 doors, with the exception of the '99 Charger R/T concept car, and swore that I would never own one with the one exception. A combination of the looks and the outstanding performance wore me down, but mainly the performance. Then after I sat it one it was all over and I had to have one. I have never looked back since, especially after driving one.
I don't think I have any cons about the car itself. My car is a "little" finicky, but other than that I cant think of anything that after almost 2 years of owning him, that I don't like.
I can deal with the rear windows not being power
I got used to the shifter being so much lower than the IS 300 I learned to drive a standard on
I did get rid of the tires they whine like a bastard at 45mph
Im pleased with how reasonable it is to modify this car and still get a damn good amount of power/looks out of your money
Im damn happy with the endless amounts of products available for this car
I did have a hard time picking out which wheels I wanted
Mopar makes a world of parts for this car, and if your in cool with your dealer then your set
The tranny is noisy and can take a bit of getting used to. Sounds similar to a Porsche tranny since the gears are so close together
Dont upgrade your headunit if you get an SRT with the Kicker option, you lose your 6 disc changer.
They say its just a neon, and its small BUT....I fit 8 tires and wheels in the car with a passenger. Ive fit two entire exhaust systems in the car, I can fit the car's own HOOD in the backseat....so theres plenty of room where it needs to be
So I really don't have any complaints. The only thing I didnt like were the wheels/tires and I fixed that a few months after I bought the car. They're extremely reliable, with the exception of mine who likes to act up quite often, and a LOT of fun to drive. I drove 32,000 miles last year alone....mostly in joyriding cause I love the damn car so much.
Either way, its up to YOU what you like and dislike. Take it for a spin, and youll see what its all about. But theres nothing like that 3rd gear pull at around 40-50mph. For the price, you cant go wrong.
