Default Any Valentine1 Owners? (Radar Detectors)

I had been anxiously waiting for mine to arrive all week, and it got here today.

This thing is awesome! I had a Cobra from curcuit city, and it worked good for the past few years, but the Valentine1 blows it away. I've only gone for one test ride but the results are amazing. The range it has front AND BACK is incredible, and the arrow feature is worth the price plus more. I contemplated on the V1 for awhile and finially decided to go for it and I'm glad I did. I can't wait to put it to more use!

If anyones interested in my Cobra I put it up for sale

EDIT: can a mod move this to off topic

Good luck with it. Just avoid the cops with K-band radar (instant on), there aren't any detectors made that can help you if they're using that. Your only hope is to pick up a reflected signal from a vehicle around you. In other words, avoid speeding on the streets when traffic is light.....

For more info, you can go here.....

They say it's the best for detecting the instant on, though it's still "deadly" I agree. I did a lot of reading before I shelled out the money for this thing, believe me!

Luckily where I drive regularly, the city cops drive with there radar on always lol. And from what I've read even the CHP is pretty behind a lot of other states with the instant on radar.

They're not a license to recklessly speed no doubt, but IMO they're an invaluable tool.

I agree, I use a detector as well, just to avoid having to show my badge and listening to the BS from an officer I've probably had lunch with in the last month or two!!!!

Radar operates on electonic waves/pulses, laser is a generated light signal system that operates different than radar. Some people swear certain colors of cars can make you more likely to get nabbed with laser and we've all seen the license plate covers that are SUPPOSED to defeat laser systems. I'm not an expert on laser systems, but you may want to check out this site:

The best place to go for all of your questions is radartest.com it has done tests on all of the radar/laser detectors out there and just so everyone knows there is NO protection against INSTANT ON RADAR. My uncle works for the local police up here where i live he has both laser and radar .INSTANT ON of course and that can work within 25 feet from his car. So for instance you can be driving and your detecor is as silent as a mouse and you are coming up to a oncoming car and he is about 25 feet away and all the sudden your detector goes of 99 percent of the time your had. I have the caliber system that is a laser defuser front and rear I argued with my uncle about this until he tested it for himself we went to a old stip of road and it is about 1 mile long he tried to laser me about 10 times and everytime he had to shoot me until i got about 500 feet from his car anytime before 500 ft he got an error on his laser gun. Laser detectors only work when the laser hits your car and we all know if the laser hits your car you have already been had SO PULL OVER IF YOU WERE SPEEDING the detector only reads a 3 ft radious on the front of your car and only knows if you have been hit with laser and nothing else. Also when ever my uncle used instant on by the time my K-40 went off he already had a lock on my speed that is about 1 second to react or less

how is that mounted Ukchris? Is that in the rear view mirror???

a V1 is on my list of goodies to buy... I had a buddy pick one up... love it! they are just so darn pricey (and don't give me that "they're cheaper than a ticket and insurance" crap ;-) hahaha...
