I was planning to re-torque mine every oil change. But after only 1000 miles since my last oil change, mine are loose again! Do you think it is engine / road vibration or the pressure in the hose that loosens them over time? Should I check them more often if I am hard on the car, say after I put on a few mods. Like this weekend when I installed the mopar exhaust and BOV. I only have about 3800 miles on my car, and I'm trying to get a mental picture of my maintance schedule.

My OCC clamps and IC clamps work loose no matter how hard I drive, so I'd have to say it's vibration from the engine and road....my OCC gets emptied every 1000 miles, so a clamp check will be added to the "do list".......

I would guess temperature cycles are mostly to blame, with internal pressure and vibration. I design heat exchangers and boilers, at work there are always problems with "hot" (>800deg F) flanged and bolted connections leaking due to the bolts relaxing during thermal cycling.

Good point. I doubt my OCC clamps get all that hot, the plastic can and rubber hose would be the first to go!!!

What clamps need to be checked regularly? Is there a sticky, and if not, why isn't there???
