man - You and I ought to race sometime - we are set up almost identically.

I am feling the same way, lately, and I think it is time for me to pony up the 3 large for the s3 turbo upgrade, teh 1500 for the stage 3 coilovers, and some better disks and pads.

Maybe a ported polished intake manifold to match the tb, maybe focus on suspension and optimizing things there.

Are you on stock wheels?

Yeah, Im on stock wheels and am still trying to get a good launch but its tricky. I just wanted to thank you for always replying to my posts even when nobody else does and that info on the wastegate adjustment really helped me out. With your set up what kind of times do you run and wheredo you run. I run at summerduck Va, 1/8th mile but Im looking for a good 1/4 mile track near me. I also have thought about suspension and just ordered the mopar stage 1 springs. Im also looking to try to stuff 245's on my car mainly for taction reasons but might just get some bfg drag radials for the front. Do you know whats the widest tire you can safetly put on the staock rims? Sorry so long but just really exited about how great these cars respond to upgrades. Thanks for the help.

Glad I was able to help you out.

I haven't spent all that much time at the dragstrip, but did start hitting it up at the end of last season, finally so I have a total of 10 runs at the strip, ever. That being said, starting in November I hit Island in NJ, then Cecil in MD, Then Atco in NJ. My best time was at Island(which is the worst track of the bunch for sure) when I ran a 13.278. My 1/8 was 8.686. I am trapping between 106 and 109. Temps for the runs were between 29 degrees and 50 degrees.

Where are you in the 1/8?

I am curious to hear what you think of the stage 1 springs. Currently I am at stock height and I am ready to do something soon to drop it a little.

On stock wheels you are pretty limited in size. They are a 6" width for some stupid reason (I still can't figure this one out, other than light weight in an inexpensive wheel and the fact the the transverse mounted truck tranny takes so much room in there). A 205 width is really the safe max on a 6"wide rim. Some use up to a 225, but I wouldn't do it - just not safe.

I would look into aftermarket wheels as your next mod. Get some good lightweight ones, like motegi traklites, or centerline storms, or ssr competitions, or falken hannabi's. They will make a bigger difference in acceleration than you would think, as the rotational weight you lose is 10 times as important as static weight, ie. if you lose 10 lbs on the wheels it is like losing 100 lbs on the car.

I would try for a 7-8.5"rim, and lean towards 8"+ if you want to put a 245 on there, but you are going to be hard pressed to turn the wheel all the way, and may rub the spring perch - if you are only going to use them in a straight line, 245's might work, but you'll be tight. I think I would max it at 235, on this car otherwise. I have traklites with 225 45-17 toyo's and think I could fit fit a 235 in that tire and rim without rubbing, but evey wheel/tire is different, as well so check carefully.

If you have ideas, run 'em by us here, someone probably knows the combination, and if it will work or not.

Sorry so long for the respond but been busy. As for my 1/8 mile I only ran 3 times when I was stock. Ran a 9.5 first run in srt and first run in front wheel drive car (last car was a 97 z28), second run 9.3 less wheel hop and a better 60', third run was a 9.1 felt like I could have shaved a little more time off because 60' times were like 2.4 (just not good) so in all I "think" I could have gotten into the 8.? but will never know. I raced at Sumerduck dragway Va. As for the springs havent got to install them yet but hopefully soon. Thanks for the rim and weight advice, Im going to jump on that because that weight means alot. Thanks again.

You seem to have plenty of power mods, so you should shift more to things that help put that power to the ground better as well as handling and stopping.
