I just put new winter tires on my '04 SRT and they are 15', I traveled from NY to Colorado, and when on the highway whenever i reached about 70-80 mph my steering wheel began to shake, is this normal due to the smaller tires then the stock ones or do i need to get something looked at?

 

ok, even though you went to 15 inch rims, depending on the size of the tires, you really shouldn't have vibraiton issues. First off, did they use hub-centric rings on the rims you bought???? Also, its very possible the balance on the rims/tires is off. Also, if I remember right, when you go with an aftermarket rim, you have to remove a crush washer on the hub, or the rims won't sit totally flush.

 

yea they have hub centric rings, i'm gonna check on the hub washer though thanks

 

Good idea to check. There is no reces for it in aftermarket wheels, so they sit a little crooked if you leave it on.

 

I had the same problem with my wheels. I removed the crush washer and the problem was gone.

 

I dont have a crush washer and I STILL have a shake. Its the neon-shimmy. *shrugs* Happens to the best of us.
