This is what I read. Octane rating does nothing for making your car run better. It helps to eliminate spark knock or ping. Depending how much you have done to your engine will determine what octane gas is good for your car. I run 89 octane because I am completely stock and my engine doesn't ping. The more you advance your timing by Stage 1 or 2 or 3 or other goodies, will determine how much octane your engine will need. In other words, your engine will tell you how low you can go on octane. You don't want it to ping and I wouldn't run lower than 89 octane. Hope this helps on your decision.
I agree, 91 octane should be OK provided you don't mod your engine too much. You can always add a few gallons of racing gas if the situation calls for it......
Don't waste your money on the "octane boosters"....

WERD, black.
Loves me some octane booster!
But word to the non hom running peeps, in seriousness:
91 octane will run safely. However it has been tested through numerous sources to be true that timing can be pulled with 91. I might try running a little booster after reseting the ecu for for a tank, and letting the ecu learn that map. Just as a test, you might find gains. Couldn't hurt to try.
