buying srt?
I bought my SRT-4 less than a month ago (I've not posted in awhile, too much working:/). Anyway it was raining on the day I got it, and woowee did it get away from me. You defiantly want to be careful on wet roads, that torque will get away from you ha. Anyway, tomorrow morning (I have been saying this for a week) I am ordering a Mopar Preformance BOV, (either ordering an oilcatch can or getting the parts to put a $20 on this weekend), and a STS with booger bushings. Good luck if you choose to purchase an SRT-4!.. its amazing! ^_^
For another example just ask carkid about trying to mow his lawn with his (OOPS!) or just go read the thread- use the search engine for the phrase "drove across my front yard"[sm=smiley2.gif]
On a more serious note, just look at the Nurburgring pics of the black SRT. OUCH.

I got my $20 catch can from Auto Zone for only $12.99 tonight.[sm=smiley20.gif][sm=smiley2.gif] Don't ask them though, they haven't a clue as to what your looking for and the part number for it wasn't in their computers. I found it next to their tools with all the other Campbell Hausfeld stuff, you want the MP5138.[sm=smiley2.gif]
I wasted a good half hour at Pep Boys trying to explain to the parts guy what an oil catch can was and what parts I needed. I did end up finding the barbs there, but had to order the can from the internet. NOW, I have an Auto Zone across the street...[sm=smiley5.gif]
Barney is right. I did mow my lawn with my SRT-4[&:]. People don't realize how powerful 230hp and 250lb-ft of torque is until you actually youch the gas pedal of that beast. I'm holding off till sept 1st for all my mods because of this. I'm not good enough with my SRT-4 yet to handle a stage 2, let alone what the new intake/exhaust will add etc. As for price, you can always talk dealers down. Don't forget, their commission is included in the sticker price, so, get them to cut their commission and you get less of a price. OR, have them throw stuff in for free, such as the sunroof/kicker system and perhaps even some mopar accessories. I got the mopar BOV/kicker system/Sunroof thrown in for free. It's easier to do that rather than have the dealer cut his commission. Don't forget that the salesman will help you in every way as long as he gets his sale/full commission. They are allowed and encouraged to pull strings to make a sale. I know, because I'm a salesman of sorts too =D.
Also, word of advice, don't try racing until you're really ready. If you crash your SRT-4, hell, if I crashed mine, I'd kill myself I think.[:@] I'm inlove with this car
. I pay more attention to my car than people around me haha. Even my best friend has to scream my name sometimes to get my attention =P. This car is so unbelievable stock, it'll keep you happy like that for a long time, until you're really ready for stage 2 + other mods. Don't forget, with a stage 2 turbo kit/new intake/new exhaust, the SRT-4 is infinitely more powerful than the WRX STi which is one of the most costly cars in terms of insurance. The STi will bring you more insurance than a Rolls Royce phantom. Why? Because it's ridiculously fast! Like the SRT-4. The SRT-4 is even more aggressive than the STi. Driving one is like driving a herd of Rams!!! (IE: the dodge logo!!!! It makes sense!)
So basically, don't pay for things you don't need, and take it easy, you're gonna have that SRT-4 for at least 5 years. Take good care of it and you'll have it for even longer and never experience problems. The guys here give great advice on maintaining your cars health and performance =). (That oil catch can probably saves you lots of trouble..)

I agree 101% with the oil catch can statement!!!...my only regret is not putting it on before I hit 900 miles after seeing all the oil that actually gets back into the engine....yeck!!!![:@]
Yeah, the catch can part is actually an air compressor filter, so auto shops generally don't know what you're talking about (unless they have parts for shop tools too, of course)- I found the best place to get it (and where I finally got mine) is Home Depot or Lowe's- they have tons of that kind of stuff, and it's cheaper.
I even told them it was a compressor part and they were clueless. Zettlers has some, but they were too large or had a regulator bulit in which you don't need. Auto Zone worked for me.[sm=smiley20.gif]
Yup, the "attitude" of the employees at Pep Boys kinda pissed me off. It was like since I wasn't buying something expensive, they really didn't want to help....from now on it's Auto Zone....[&:]
