buying srt?
I'm going to the dealer tomorrow to look at a srt4. I drove one last week and really liked it. I'm thinking of trading in my 03 SVT Focus. The focus is a pretty good all around car, but i dont want all around i want fast. Ill probably lose my rearend in the trade but i think it will be worth it. So does anyone have any advice or anything i should look out for going into this? Does anyone know if i can purchase stage 2 and roll it into my financing? Thanks in advance guys, and i hope to be a regular.
glad to hear you are loining us. I don't really know of any advice about buying one, I would simply suggest, DO NOT pay any more than sticker. I heard that some dealers are still marking them up as an ADP (additional dealer profit). Don't do that, I bought mine for about $1200 less than sticker...
Also, it is none of my business, but after going from your focus to this, might I suggest getting used to the car before upgrading to a stage 2. Going straight into a low 13, high 12 second car could be dangerous. I had to get used to driveing my stock SRT on a wet road. It can be very tereturous on a wet raod. I told this story here once before, but 4 SRT-4s have been sold in Corsicana, one is my cousins, one is mine, the other 2, 2 different kids bought and totaled them on a wet road... I would buy upgrades later, but that is fully up to the person.
Once again, I am glad that you are buying one, be sure and put pics up when you get it!
What color???

Hopefully silver. As long as i don't take to much of a beating on the focus(i've only had it six months and it has 11000 miles on it) im sold. The wife and i go to the dealer tomorrow, we'll see what happens.
The stock stereo kicks a$$, but you may not want to listen to it much....the sound of the exhaust is much sweeter!!!! I agree with doof 100%, take some time in getting used to your new ride...it handles different in the rain more than most cars due to the power from the front wheels. You'll lose traction easily and kinda "float" towards your line....[sm=smiley20.gif]
I think you can actually get stage 2 put into financing and also get an additional warranty if it's installed at purchase. If you do that you may not get your car right away since they will install it and have to order it. Definately get used to the power though. I almost crashed racing a damn mini coop. I smoked him about 10 car lengths and didn't realize the road was ending quick. The car is fast and you don't need to prove it to every guy that wants to know. I have the exhaust and aem intake and there was a slight performance gain. You will probably lose your *** off on the svt focus though.

Since Mopar performance parts do not come with a warranty, don't expect your dealer to honor any break down related to the mods that caused the problem.... Cruel, but true.[sm=smiley5.gif]

Yes, you absolutely are authorized to add any mopar accessories into the financing- it's up to your dealer whether or not they'll do it, though. BUT, I agree w/ these guys- don't put it on straight-away; even if you don't buy the "too much power" argument (and you should buy it, make no mistake- this car has juice, along w/ subtleties like torque-steer and understeer that you need to get used to first- you can't just step the tail out if you start to get in trouble like a rwd) I can't imagine you'll get a very good break in with all that crap on the car. I'd wait until about 1500 miles or so to put on the S2- that's what I'm doing, anyway.
But, that's just my take.[sm=smiley20.gif]

Oh yeah, and yes, the kicker system is worth it. It sounds about the same as if you put a $1200-1500 aftermarket system in it (which is what I normally do). If you want more than that, skip the kicker and build it yourself.

I agree with everyone, it's not for the timid. If it were available at the time of purchase for me, I would have bought it, but look at what I have had(listed bellow), have driven(630 horsepower Barracuda which I still drive on some weekends) and drive currently(at that time it was the modified Neon R/T and is still the Roadrunner).[sm=smiley2.gif]
