I ran my wastegate with out any pre-load for the first week until I understood what everyone was talking about. I searched the threads for anything about 'pre-load' or '4.0mm' and I starting getting the idea. But it was PSI Chick's description on what to do that finally get me pointed in the right direction.

By the way, thanks again PSI Chick.

Oh ya, you wont get any more boost than stock if your not running any pre-load.

ok with the wga off the car, make a black line around the wga arm. then install the wga on the car. the distance from the black line on the arm to the body of the wga should be 4mm (to start). tape 4 dimes together and use this as a measure if you don't have anything else. from there you can adjust load to how the car likes it.....

yes. if it's not 4mm adjust it until it is. then go out and see what the car does. one thing to remember about s2, psi does not always equal power.

Ok i need help again,i adjusted it to 4mm and when i started the car it didn't sound right(when i hit the gas it hesitated almost as if it had a miss)...so i shut it down and adjusted it back out 2 turns, started it back up and it sounded fine so i took it for a quick lunch run.....16psi still cant get it over that, can anyone tell me what im doing wrong?is it suppose to feel kind of hesitant when set?One other thing before i made the adjustment back out my HOM would not turn on but as soon as i brought it out it worked!!!!! someone please help before i break this thing!!

Adjusting the waste gate shouldn't cause that issue. Could you have a vacuum leak around the waste gate somewhere? Maybe the vacuum line that goes to the waste gate or something. I have adjusted my waste gate from zero preload to the 4mm setting, then all the way to 6mm, now I'm pretty happy with around 5mm. Every half turn of adjustment got me about .5mm. The more preload you set, above the 4mm mark, you should see the boost gauge spike higher. But if it spikes too high and too fast the computer will adjust and you will see the boost drop off before you reach red line. The trick is in the adjustment, you want your boost to raise and hold, not just spike and drop again. Every car is different, so you will have to play with the measurment on your car to see what works best. Over 4mm is not always the answer, some owners find the best setting well under 4mm. Hope this helps...

Ok i think i almost got it,i was sittin thinkin about this damn thing and it came to my attention that this thing never really ran as hard as it did when i first put the wastegate on...So i decided just to put it back where it was(out of the box)and voila 16 psi strong.....I think i need to just turn it maybe one more time because when i get on it in 2nd it will hit 15 drop to 11 and climb back towards 15 before redline,3rd 16 strong,4th 16 strong........So im almost there thanx again for all of your guys's help i really do appreciate how you help people even when its stupid ? one right after another!!!!!!!!!

I love this forum
