hey... i just got a 2004 silver srt-4 about 8 days ago. im new to the tuner car thing, i dont plan on keeping it stock obviously. stage 2 next summer, if all goes well for me financially. actually, i didnt even know how to drive a stick when i bought it, ha, i just picked it up and started driving, ive got the hang of it now, but, i could use some tips on that, anyone know how i can shift without clutching? i hear that will take a few 10th's off of your 1/4 mile.
ive also been reading about the whole spark plug wire problem. is it necessary to buy a whole new distributor? or will higher quality wire suffice?

A set of MSD spark plug wires will set you back about $40. The cheap fix is spark plug wire sheaths from Summit Racing...$7 for a set of four.. Your #4 wire is the one you need to watch, maybe the #3 as well if you drive it hard in the summer...the problem is the heat from the turbo cooking the wires....[&:]
First off because you are a noob please take all criticisms as constructive as possible and congrats on the new car. Don't shift without the clutch, you don't need to. Since you are new to the man trans take your time to learn to drive this car. I don't recommend this car as the first car to learn to drive a stick with because it has so much power and the lack of experience with shifting could hurt the car if you are not careful. Learn to first shift without it jerking all the time and drive it easy since it isn't even broke in. Definately get a short throw shifter. They are easy to install and give the car more of a performance feel. Give yourself a couple of thousand miles before you start redlining it. Trust me, I baby my car during the daily driving but when it's time to push the car I don't hold back.
10-4 on that. The clutch is there for a reason...use it. Otherwise, you won't have to worry about racing anybody for very long...
No not necessarily. With stage 1 2 and 3 you can "blip the clutch and grab the next gear" according to mopar. I still woudln't recommend it for new drivers.

Shifting without the clutch will cause your transmission to experience very early failure. It will destroy the synchronizers quickly. And trust me, a new clutch is a hell of a lot cheaper than a tranny rebuild.
