Learning to drive over gain.
Hey everyone. If everything goes well I'm going to be in the market for a new car in three or four months and I'm seriously concidering and SRT-4.
The only problem I have is that I havn't drivin a stick in about eight to ten years. What's the problem you ask? Well I don't have a manual available to me to refresh myself. That leads me to my question... does anyone have any ideas of how I can relearn how to drive a stick? Know of any driving classes I can check out in NorCal? I'm sure it wouldn't take me long to get back into the swing of things but I don't want to go for a test drive and staul out 5 times before I get outta the lot ^_^

Yeah, that's a good way to do it. It shouldn't take you very long at all to relearn it, it's like riding a bicycle......[&:]
a college roommate of mine learned to drive a manual trans. on a 2001 Mustang Cobra - read that... he NEVER drove one before... sure his car hated him at first... but now he is MUCH! better...
it's like riding a bike... you never forget... the clutch in the SRT is like an Escort, not that hard to push in and rather forgiving
try test driving cars at dealerships too... kind of rude, but... gets you experience... just make sure you don't try and drive the fastest coolest cars
good luck!

My first brand new car was a stick... and the clutch was nothing like the 12 year old year I learned on. Well, 3 days later, drove 800 miles... I learned how to drive a manual REALLY well then. LOL!

Learning stick again huh? Well. I haven't been driving a car for long at all. Only hmm..about 2months? Anyway. The only thing I'm not good at is starts. I still squeel the tires a bit sometimes, or make jackrabbit starts. I think starting from 0 is the hardest thing to do with a manual transmission. Other than that, It's pretty easy. The shifting is simple if you learn your RPM's and learn to watch them. I was advised by some of these guys to shift between 5000-5500 RPM's for optimum performance and it seems to be working. Go into a parking lot and just practice the starting, then stop, and start from zero in 1st gear again until it's smooth ^_^. Once your wheels get some traction, you can slam on the gas and the car will just EXPLODE forward. I love this car..oh man..I LOVE THIS CAR haha. I've disconnected half my family ties over my car! I sacrifice food to drive! I LOVE SRT-4's!!! I bought another SRT-4 owner lunch the other day. I was so happy to see another one here in toronto. Cost me a pretty penny too, but it was so nice to see another SRT-4 owner..*sigH* I'm rambling. Anyone else here love SRT-4's by any chance? haha.
I hear ya dude, I wash mine and talk to mine everyday....it's like having a newborn in the family...kinda weird if you think about it, but what the hell.......life can be short..........[&:]
