I am planning on heading to the track either tonight or tomorrow night. Probably tomorrow night because I think it will be a little cooler. Probably low 90's maybe high 80's by start time at 6pm. Does anybody have any tips for the track like lowering tire PSI?, or launching RPM's? I'm open to suggestions. Thanks.

On the tires, 22-25 PSI seems to be the most popular (racing slicks are better, but you know that). Launch techniques are an individual preference, but I'd buy the driver of the fastest SRT-4 a beer and and ask him/her what he/she does....[sm=smiley4.gif]

Just run it as much as you can, so you can get the feel of it. This way you can figure out what works best for you and your car.[sm=smiley20.gif]

Ok, I finally got to the track tonight- I got 8 passes in- here are some of the slips- I was 702. Didn't run great, but it's my first time at the track, so whatever. I definitely need some pointers on my launch. My shift points seemed to work out pretty well, I played with them a little too. And before you go laughing at me, yes I know my r/t's sucked, but I was concentrating more on a clean launch and 1/4 time than on the tree, so I didn't really care about those.
These passes were bone stock as far as power- took off the STS, had stock springs- only the BOV, which doesn't matter.
First pass at 50 psi for baseline, rest at 35.
I had a huge problem w/ the launches b/c I couldn't get the power to the ground- tons of tire spin and some wheel hop. Tried the first few launches at 2500 RPM, then went down to about 2000 the rest of the night.
Now I'll take some runs with the STS, then with the Tein H-Tech springs (which I still haven't gotten yet), to see what/any difference they make.
Best time- 14.3 @ 98 mph - need launch help! remember, before you start in, I don't care about r/t right now.

Your traction problems are evident in your 60 ft. times, it should be around a 2.0 maybe even less. Your trap speed is also a little low due to this, but it shows that your car is capable of quicker ET's. Your trap speed should ideally be 100-105 MPH, then you will be in the 13's where you belong. Good job for your first times out, I've seen alot worse trust me.[sm=smiley20.gif][sm=smiley2.gif]

Is everyone else hitting 13's@100 MPH? I have 24 runs total under my belt and I have only hit 100 MPH 3 times. I ran a 14.27, 14.33, and 14.38 on those. My worst so far was against a WRX. I had a .549 light with a 2.52 60ft, missed 2 shifts(the only ones I missed all night), and finished with a 15.4@78.5 MPH. I hit the brakes before I was done and still beat his 15.48@90.36 MPH. There was a modded WRX there that night that ran 13.76@99.7 MPH with a reaction of .853 and a 60ft of 1.86. I guess that's what AWD will do for you. That is the only car I've raced with a better 60ft time than me.

How can I have my worst reaction time but my best 60ft time on the same run? Is that possible. On my 14.12@99.15 MPH I had a 1.079 reaction with a 2.15 60ft. I don't understand? The time starts on the green light right? or is it when you start to move?

R/T will not affect your 1/4 time- the time doesn't start until you leave the stage. That's why I said I was more concerned about a clean launch than r/t's- If you're looking to beat the guy beside you, then obviously r/t's will make a difference- you can put up a faster time and still lose.
There are lots of ways to race, however, and I'm only talking about timed runs- I certainly don't know all the rules regarding all the different types of racing (brackets, etc.).
